History .... hmm not quite sure if those counts bit you might check:Science & Human Values, it is quite short but really great.
or/and Cryptonomicon. This one is crossing many topics of math in the beginning of the century. There is Turing and some crypto/mathematical concepts, however the book is written for majority of people, so nothing too fancy.
