lyssa ☆ (a1yssa3) I really liked the Renegade series, but when i was younger my favorite was the I Am Number Four books..
HARRY POTTER
Maze Runner
Michael Vey

message 24: by Kacie (new)

Kacie Michael Vey is pretty good

Emily (I'll be gone except for book updates for awhile) | 263 comments Mod
I read the first two renegade books

message 26: by Harper Nicole (new)

Harper Nicole (harpernicole) I read the Renegade books. I liked them, but there were several things that I didn't like. And I don't think I'd like them so much anymore, even though I read them like the end of last year. Lol

Silver Snapdragon | 58 comments The Hundred Cupboards!! I love that series. I attempted a review, but, rats! I couldn’t do it justice!

Silver Snapdragon | 58 comments Is Mortal Engines like the Hunger Games?

message 29: by Harper Nicole (new)

Harper Nicole (harpernicole) My sister is reading the Hundred Cupboards series! She loves them.

Silver Snapdragon | 58 comments Nice! What book is she on?

message 31: by Harper Nicole (new)

Harper Nicole (harpernicole) I can't remember. She's read the blue one, the green one, and the orange one, and that's all I know. Lol Does that help? haha

Silver Snapdragon | 58 comments It’s a trilogy, so she must have read them all! (Well, actually there’s a prequel, but it’s a bit different.)

message 33: by Harper Nicole (new)

Harper Nicole (harpernicole) Okay then! I guess she read them all!! Lol I act like I know things...

Silver Snapdragon | 58 comments My youngest brother is reading the third/last book right now :)

Emily (I'll be gone except for book updates for awhile) | 263 comments Mod
I'm not sure if it is considered a series but all the Hercule Poirot books are amazing!

message 36: by Karin (new)

Karin Emily wrote: "I'm not sure if it is considered a series but all the Hercule Poirot books are amazing!"

Yes, it is. You can see them listed here: https://www.goodreads.com/series/5113...

She has another series with Miss Marple as well :) https://www.goodreads.com/series/5179...

Emily (I'll be gone except for book updates for awhile) | 263 comments Mod
I know I've read one of them, Murder in the Vicarage

message 38: by Olly (new)

Olly Williams | 21 comments hey Anndromeda, Mortal Engines isn't like the Hunger games , no. its where towns and cities run out wheels and compete for resources. its so good everyone needs to read it haha :))

message 39: by Olly (new)

Olly Williams | 21 comments *on

Silver Snapdragon | 58 comments Oops! About Mortal Engines, I should have clarified. I know it’s not like hunger games in plot–I should have asked if it is like it in tone. (Also do a lot of people die and is it a odd-eat-dog type of story?)

And the Hundred Cupboards series gets really different in the 2nd and 3rd books, though there definitely is a similarity to Narnia!

message 41: by Joey (new)

Joey | 113 comments It totally is like that Anndromeda. Thanks for the clarification! Yeah, a lot of people die, and it’s definitely fend-for-yourself, anything-to-survive kinda book. I guess that’s how I would describe it

Silver Snapdragon | 58 comments Ok, thanks! That’s one of the main reasons I haven’t read the Hunger Games (I just really don’t enjoy that type of book at all.) So even though I know a bunch of people who LOVE the Hunger Games and Mortal Engines, I’m pretty sure I won’t find them worth my time. I really can’t stand that tone. :(

Silver Snapdragon | 58 comments The only reason why I would read those books would be because they come up so often and I feel like I need/want to be knowledgeable. I did that with Percy Jackson (which I did not really enjoy) and Harry Potter (which I did enjoy but probably won’t reread.)

message 44: by Macy (new)

Macy (maggieviolet) | 65 comments That's why I like movie adaptions, if I don't really want to read the book, I can just watch the movie.

message 45: by Kacie (new)

Kacie What's the best movie adaption in your opinion?

message 46: by Macy (new)

Macy (maggieviolet) | 65 comments The Princess Bride! All time favorite adaption. Hands down.

message 47: by Kacie (new)

Kacie Oh I love Princess Bride!!! It's one of my favorite movies:D
I never read the book tho. Have you read it?

message 48: by Macy (new)

Macy (maggieviolet) | 65 comments Haha...no.

message 49: by Kacie (new)

Kacie Yeah. I've tried reading it twice, but I don't think I made it past the first chapter...

The movie is better than the book, IMO, but there are a few extra details in the book. What I enjoyed better than the book was the audiobook by Cary Elwes (Wesley in the movie) As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales from the Making of The Princess Bride
