Hello hello,
Now that we've picked up our first read, let us know what your first impressions are.
I'm personally completely hooked on the way Jenny Lawson writes; I rarely laugh out loud when I read but my goodness she's funny.
Had anyone heard of the #furiouslyhappy movement before beginning this book? I'm wondering, now that we have a little more insight from the Author's Note, what are your first impressions on the concept of living a furiously happy life?
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Jolene Chavez | 2 comments First impressions were how nice it would be to look at joy when struggling with mental health. I think so much of the time we focus on surviving and being okay that we, at least personally, don’t look far ahead enough to joy when I’m focusing so much on contentment. The humor and sarcasm were also so inviting and my impression that not only will I be able to get though this book, I become disinterested to easily by academic texts, but that I will thoroughly enjoy it.

Ky Hoelscher | 2 comments I'm a big fan of comedy, and have heard of the author! I'm curious to see their perspective on mental health through comedy/making light. I want to see if it could help me and others see aspects of our lives differently.

I agree Hanna, I rarely laugh out loud while reading but Jenny Lawson is hilarious! Even in the author’s note where she was going back and forth with the editor—I loved that!

I really liked what she said in the author’s note about taking ordinary things and being furiously happy about them: “It’s about taking those moments when things are fine and making them amazing, because those moments are what make us who we are, and they’re the same moments we take into battle with us when our brains declare war on our very existence.” This really hit home for me, and I love that perspective. Hopefully through all her humor in the book I’ll just love more and more what insight she has on gratitude! I think this is a really helpful point, especially while in quarantine, to appreciate those good moments and make them amazing!

I am digging this book! I hadn’t heard of the #furiouslyhappy movement before this either! But I really like what it stands for!

I really agree with this: as someone who is always thinking about my mental health, I need a resource to remind me how important it is to find joy when I struggle.
