characters so far:-stone-cold saucy lesbian
i propose:
no main character. shared pov. what do you think?
I usually use 1st person. Sometimes I try to write in 3rd person, but then I get into the "writer's zone" or whatever and start writing in 1st without realizing it. I can write 3rd person though, I just have to concentrate.
oh my god it's the same thing for me but the other way around? how 'bout we just each write how we normally write and once we're done with the story we can go back and see which pov makes more sense and just edit it to fit that?
Sure! Sounds good? Also, for our only current planned character, how about the name Blue Eternity Sallow?
naming conventionslike in some cultures, you name someone after their father or a middle name is always the name of their mother or something like that. also for whatever common names are.
for instance, people might be named by whatever words are left from previous society, so brand and object names might be used as names.
found a last name that means sallow treeMcNair
also here are some brand names that could also work as names:
-adobe
-nokia
-toyota
-fedex
-ebay
-mcdonald
-lego
-nike
-apple
-visa
and celebrity names that are so widespread they'd survive-
-chris
-tom
-jennifer
-elvis
-michael
-emma
-john
-peter
-david
-robert
-jason
-kevin
-billie
-aaron
-george
-ann
-jessica
-patricia
-mike
-bobby
-tony
and then there's the thing about gender connotation? is tony considered female? gender neutral? could google be considered strictly a male name?
So we're thinking company names, hm? That works. What if we did birds too? Like, birds survived the apocalypse better than humans did so now they're seen as symbols of hope or something?
oh i love that so much. that's so poetic. maybe that could be a recurring them through the story too.
Yeah, exactly! So Blue could be for Blue Jay, and mYaybe we could have a character named Raven or Sparrow…Is it just me, or does Sparrow kinda sound like a masculine name?
I feel like it's used a lot as a feminine name but I feel like it's either masculine or gender neutral
hmm. well since this is post-post-apocalypse, maybe there's a bit more structure. i guess there might be rough approximations of houses. California probably has it pretty good since all their houses are practically built for the apocalypse i hear. maybe there are grouped tents and shelters that pass for "neighbourhoods"??
Sounds good. Okay, so - the story so far:
~After the apocalypse
~Birds are symbols of hope
~Tents/shelters in neighborhoods
~Characters are gonna go somewhere, do something, and yeah
maybe we could pull a wizard of oz, the characters meet up while looking for something and when they finally think they're found it it turns out it was a metaphor
Just had a bootiful ideaWe need a talking AI
BUT IT'S A REFRIGERATOR THAT CONSTANTLY YELLS AT PEOPLE TO EAT VEGETABLES
I'm serious. Just imagine this. You're walking back to the neighborhood, and you're starving. It's been a long day. You walk into the communal kitchen to grab, I dunno, a chocolate bar or something. You grab the handle of the bright orange refrigerator, and it immediately screams, "EAT YOUR VEGETABLES!!!" as you open it. You slam the door closed, about to nope outta there, and it shouts, "AY!!! WATCH THE DOOR, KID!!!"
i had an idea for like a tinker characterand they have a big scary name and everyone talks about them with reverence
but it turns out they're like super tiny and petite and they're just really strong/good at their job
mm..five is too young but maybe like
8-10 and also super tiny in general. like my sister had a friend who's the same age as her but everyone thinks she's in first grade bc she's so tiny. not super short, but just a combo of kinda short, petite, and a really high pitched voice.
i rolled a d4:enby child, probly they/them
i just imagine a tiny kid with one of those huge welding masks and a leather apron and then they turn and flip the mask up and it's this gap-toothed baby face standing on a stool.
Okyay so:~Blue, the resident don't-give-a-f(nope) lesbian (she/her)
~Elvis, the tiny engineer child (they/them)
~McFridge, the bright orange talking refridgerator (Supreme lord of broccoli/carrots)
Other ideas for characters:
~Star/Starling, the one who's way too energetic and optimistic, possible ship with Blue (she/her)
~Sparrow, the one who flirts with literally everybody (He/him)
~McFreezer, the kid sibling to McFridge (They/them)
~Adobe, that kid who knows everything about everything (gender is currently undecided)
~Dog, the neighborhood cat
~Cat, the neighborhood dog
