NEED HELP! Trying to remember the title of an old YA novel

I am trying to find a YA novel I once rented from my local library years ago. It was a vampire novel in which a girl was reading letters in someone's study (I believe it was her uncle's) and on the table there was a glass tank with a giant spider (tarantula) and by the end of the novel she believes the man from the old letters is coming for her and the tarantula may have bitten her or something? I know this is all very scattered but like I said this was ages ago so I can't recall too much. Please help if you have any ideas or think you may have read the novel!

you should move this to the unsolved folder of the whats the name of that book thread...stands a much better chance of being found that way
