There were four men identified as potential suspects behind Nicholas’ murder and who were also men he’d targeted upon his return (maybe). Of the four, who topped your suspect list (Theo Brownbeck, Lindsey Forbes, Ethan Hayes, Gilbert-Christophe de LaRivièra)? Did the order of your suspects change from time to time?

Joanna | 139 comments Lindsey Forbes. I did keep switching from Forbes to Brownbeck. I thought Seaforth was too much of a dandy to have done it, and I really never thought de Compans would be the killer. In all honesty, I had thought through most of the book it was going to be Kate. It was mentioned that he back was turned the killer as if it was someone he trusted. I didn't think he trusted any of the obvious suspects to turn his back on them, but he would have trusted Kate.

The murder was a little sloppy so that eliminated de LaRiviéra for me. For a long time, I thought it was Ethan Hayes, thinking that he’d be threatened by Nicholas’ return. Forbes was a close second. Brownbeck just wasn’t that high on my list!

Phrynne | 607 comments I kept changing my mind but I disliked Brownbeck the most so I hoped it was him.

Oh, I couldn’t stand him either. Just didn’t think it was him.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 242 comments Since I thought it was a conspiracy, I was sure they were all involved with Brownbeck leading the charge.
