Lindsey Forbes. I did keep switching from Forbes to Brownbeck. I thought Seaforth was too much of a dandy to have done it, and I really never thought de Compans would be the killer. In all honesty, I had thought through most of the book it was going to be Kate. It was mentioned that he back was turned the killer as if it was someone he trusted. I didn't think he trusted any of the obvious suspects to turn his back on them, but he would have trusted Kate.
The murder was a little sloppy so that eliminated de LaRiviéra for me. For a long time, I thought it was Ethan Hayes, thinking that he’d be threatened by Nicholas’ return. Forbes was a close second. Brownbeck just wasn’t that high on my list!
