JOANN MCAVOY | 5 comments Hi everyone! I hope you are all well. I have lurked long enough, so thought I'd jump in and post. I confess I did not finish the Meg, Jo, Beth, Amy...book, so I am giving it another go.
Also, I recently finished A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towls for another book club. It's an easy read, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. The movie Casablanca features in the novel, so my son and I watched it a couple of nights ago. It was his first time viewing it. It was delightful to share that with him.
I picked up Brooklyn by Colm Tóibín for Monmouth University's new virtual book club on April 21, at 7:30 pm via Zoom. It was a quick read, so if anyone is interested, you still have time.
Finally, I am listening to Angle of Repose by Wallace Stegner. It's a little slow-moving for my taste. I don't think I would finish it if were not the audio version.
I am enjoying the discussions. Happy continued reading! :)

Mary-Ellen Mess | 23 comments I thought A Gentleman in Moscow was a great book. The main character has great wit and panache and both he and the Soviet bureaucracy change as the plot develops.

I am reading The Green New Deal by Jeremy Rifkin. The author's premise is the impending collapse of the fossil fuel industry will be the impetus for the Third Industrial Revolution which will require investment in infrastructure. Definitely food for thought in the middle of this global crisis.

I finished The Secrets We Kept. I have been trying not to get lost in my books because I won't get anything else done.
