I agree with you on the hostile and rude part, but I don't think he's impaired, per se. Just awkward. Being closeted for so long can do that to you.

Nico's okay. The opposite of what I feel about Annabeth applies to him. He's a well-rounded character, but he doesn't have a great personality. I feel sorry for him.
