Liz (liz_the_librarian) We are officially down to the last week of the challenge! With Christmas just a few days ago, I decided to hold off posting the Week 51 wrap up. So now that everyone has put a huge number of books behind them, let's share with each other:

Favorite book
Least favorite book
Easiest to read
Hardest to read
Most likely to read again
Will definitely recommend to friends
A book you couldn't finish
A new series you discovered

Feel free to add any other books to the list, as well.

I hope everyone will participate in 2015. Check out the information on the library's website: http://infopeake.org/52-book-pickup-2015.

Here are my answers to the above questions:
Favorite book
I don't want to pick just one... but if I am forced to choose only one book, it would be The Martian by Andy Weir. Not only is it a debut, there is already talk of it being made into a movie. It was fast paced and easy to read despite there being tons of science facts and explanations.
The Martian by Andy Weir
Least favorite book
Out of all the books I finished, my least favorite was probably Allegiant by Veronica Roth. I really enjoyed the first Divergent book but was pretty unimpressed by the conclusion to the trilogy.
Allegiant (Divergent, #3) by Veronica Roth
Easiest to read
NPCs by Drew Hayes was super easy to read because it was very short and packed with action. Despite this, it was a super fun read and I recommend it to anyone who likes tabletop RPGs or MMOs.
NPCs by Drew Hayes
Hardest to read
I have to use two books to answer this question. Tampa by Alissa Nutting was probably the hardest to read because of its content. There's some pretty creepy stuff going on there. S. by Doug Dorst and J.J. Abrams was also difficult to get through due to all of the extras that are stuffed inside the book. It can be easy to lose your place or concentration when you constantly have to read notes written in the margins or consult a map drawn on a napkin that has been hastily stuffed into the book.
Tampa by Alissa Nutting S. by J.J. Abrams
Most likely to read again
Without a doubt, I will reread The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. I listened to it on audiobook and would love to sit down and actually read it next time.
The Name of the Wind (The Kingkiller Chronicle, #1) by Patrick Rothfuss
Will definitely recommend to friends Since a lot of my friends are gamers, I think I would recommend Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. It is such an awesome book and takes on the subject of the future of gaming quite well.
Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
A book you couldn't finish
I didn't finish a couple of books this year. Namely A Team of Rivals by Doris Kearns Goodwin and The Stand by Stephen King. I liked both books, but each was very long and involved. I found myself putting them down to read other books and finally resigned myself to not finishing either one this year. There's always next year...
Team of Rivals The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln by Doris Kearns Goodwin The Stand by Stephen King
A new series you discovered
I discovered the White Trash Zombie novels, and even though they sound super trashy, they aren't! They are well written and super entertaining, with a strong female lead who isn't a typical zombie slayer. She is a zombie.
My Life as a White Trash Zombie (White Trash Zombie, #1) by Diana Rowland

message 2: by Pattie (last edited Dec 28, 2014 09:19PM) (new)

Pattie Babbitt Favorite: Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah
Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah

Least Fav: Tess of the D'Ubervilles...the author needed to edit badly. It should have been a novella.
Tess of the D'Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy

Easiest read was Man Up! by Ross Matthews because I could hear him read aloud the book to me as I was reading it.
Man Up! Tales of My Delusional Self-Confidence by Ross Mathews

Hardest to read was Matterhorn because I read it on audiobook during my lunch break and Vietnam War realities does not make for appetizing reading. Great book though!
Matterhorn by Karl Marlantes

Read again would have to be the 8th installment of the Jamie and Claire saga. I cannot wait another 5 years for the next one.
Written in My Own Heart's Blood (Outlander, #8) by Diana Gabaldon

New Series: Cormoran Strike Crime novels by Robert Galbraith (aka J. K. Rowling). Not my normal genre, but I will read anything by that woman. :)
The Cuckoo's Calling (Cormoran Strike, #1) by Robert Galbraith

Ingrid Hurst (bookrdr) | 285 comments Favorite book & Easiest to Read - Gone with the Wind

Least Favorite book - The Enemy at this point. Just slowly plugging along slowly.

Book I couldn't finish - a romance book about Navy Seals. I thought it was one book, but it was a group of stories. I couldn't get into the characters since each story was so short.

New Series - The Lunar Chronicles & I enjoyed the Divergent Trilogy.

I finished the challenge the other night! Very excited!

Looking forward to next year everyone!

Liz (liz_the_librarian) Congratulations to everyone! Regardless of finishing the challenge, everyone took on a hefty goal and did something pretty amazing this past year. I'm so glad I was able to be a part of it.

I'll be putting up a new thread shortly with some information about the prize drawing for 2014 and what's going on with the challenge for 2015.

It wasn't a bad book, but if I had to pick a least favorite that is probably it.

Easiest to read
Serenity: Leaves on the Wind (graphic novel)
Seriously... I'm Kidding by Ellen DeGeneres

Hardest to read
George R.R. Martin
Just VERY long books, at times confusing, but worth it

Most likely to read again
Ready Player One
I want to read it again already

Will definitely recommend to friends
Ready Player One, Neverwhere, The Book Thief and
Speaker for the Dead

A book you couldn't finish
I didn't have any I couldn't finish, just a few I haven't finished YET

A new series you discovered
The Heir Chronicles by Cinda Williams Chima
I came across them looking for an audio book on one click digital, and while the first wasn't my favorite I liked enough to try the second (which was a lot better) and am looking forward to the third one!
