The quarantine readathon starts on Saturday. Today is Tuesday. For me it is Day 31 of staying cocooned at home so this project is a delightful diversion.I’ve chosen my challenge categories from the wonderful list that Allison compiled, staying true to her ideas but for one, which has been tweaked slightly.
My preliminary choices of categories and associated books are set out below but I reserve the right to change my mind up to and throughout the readathon because making the choices is a ton of fun.
Category: two short stories
Choice: stories from “Some of the Best from Tor.com 2016 Edition” anthology. One by Alix Harrow and the other by Rebecca Campbell because I have read books by these authors and enjoyed them.
Category: historical non-fiction
Choice: “ A History of Canada in Ten Maps - Epic Stories of Charting a Mysterious Land” by Adam Shoalts
Category: title starting with “R”
Choice: “Rest,Relaxation and Murder” by Stacey Alabaster.
Category: discovered on Goodreads
Choice: “Senlin Ascends” by Josiah Bancroft
Category: graphic novel
Choice: Neil Gaiman, “The Graveyard Book”
Category: won a major literary award in the year of my birth
Choice: Franz Lieberman, “The Big Time” Winner of the 1958 Hugo Award
If you happen to read this post and would like to recommend other potential choices, please do so. I would be very interested to consider your comments.
Cheers!
Siulan
The tweaked category was the most fun. Researching the books from my year of birth was an eye-opener. I also researched epic poems but couldn’t find any of interest to me that were also available in electronic format. Those went in a list to pursue at the library when it opens again. My reading life in retirement is going to be much broader thanks to your challenge ideas 😊
Hi Candace, that looks interesting. I’ve added it to my wish list. I look forward to hearing your thoughts when you finish it.Cheers,
Siulan
