I carry a writer's journal around and in it i just write anything that i see or pops into my head that might make a good story or poem, then i look for inspiration there when i need it
Thats a good idea, carrying a notebook and pen with you at all times, I usually have a diary at my bedside table.
Good idea Maryam and V.E.! Well, for me it's music, or something I see. For example, when I see random people on the street or shopping, I try to guess their name and make up a story about them before they move out of my sight.
I have a notebook a write story ideas in. Sometimes its just a idea for a character, sometimes a whole plot. I have learned that you have to be patient for a story to develope, which for be is extremly hard. I don't think I get story ideas from music...
It usually comes by me playing a game with my younger cousins and it just hits me: "Wow...this would be an interesting book!" That's how Dragoons was made! :) And that was like...four-six years ago.
Wow...four-sic years ago!?!I get some of my ideas while I am listening to music OR I'am thinking about some other book I just read and then some sort of inspiration FROM that book hits me!!!Like....I got my idea of one story(not on GR) from Magyk by Angie Sage.
Tehee...Or at times random things such as scenery's, landscapes and just people give inspiration to me and a story is formed in my head.
Most of my ideas though come in the night, when I'am about to sleep and am thinking about the day..soo..yeah
Yeah..four-six years, it's been re-written THOUSANDS of times lol.Like Hannigan's name used to be Anna or somethine like that, and in one version, her and her younger sister moved to a Duke's house who ended up being her father, it was very confusing.
Also in one version Hannigan's mother was alive and it was just her living with her-no younger sister-and Hannigan moved away with some butler who ended up dating her mother..lol..I started writing this story such a long time ago.
They kind of just hit me randomly. Sometimes I get them from music, like my story Bloody Flowers. Sometimes I take inspiration from something else, like my soon to be 'What a Wonderful World', and sometimes they are all me.
I get inspiration from music, definatly, things I see, other books and dreams.
actually one of the best scenes I've ever written had its basis in a dream.
My dreams always hit a bit too close to home for me to write things inspired by them. Whenever I try I always feel uncomfortable.
yeah, it was a chapter in Silver Moon, Golden Sun called the Glass Sword.

most of my story ideas come from something else I read or watch on tv and start out as me inserting myself (or myself as I would like to be -brave & good looking and all the rest...) and the story changes and moves on and gets new characters and each scenerio gets played out 15 times till I find one I like better than the rest, then I start writing it down when it doesn't seem like fan-fic any more.

ok... I think we have perfected the art of greeting in this group. I was looking at the poles, when are we gonna get a folder for group stories?
I'm not into group stories that much, but it's not up to me, I don't really care, just letting you know!
