I don't know how I missed these books when I was younger. I know of the story but never read the book. I blame my mother ;) and decided this was as good as a time as any to read any that fit Poll Ballot.

This story follows four siblings living in a large house that is full of mysteries. In a room the youngest, Lucy, finds a wardrobe that she hides in. It transports her to the middle of the woods and she has a delightful afternoon tea with an inhabitant of Narnia. Edmund goes next and he meets the White Witch. Eventually, when all 4 go to hide from a tour that is in their house, the all end up in Narnia and the adventure begins.

It's cute and probably would have gotten more stars from me when I was younger. A fun, easy read for a dreary afternoon!

Ah, I remember the days back in 4th grade when I and my best friend would sneak around the auditorium of our old school and look for the door into Narnia! Sadly in my adult years I found I had outgrown this series, but this gave me much pleasure in my youth and I would read them over and over through the years. My favorite book of the series was probably a toss-up between The Voyage of the Dawn Treader and The Last Battle.

I think I was also about in 4th grade when I read these books and remember really enjoying them. When I re-read them as an adult, I was like, wow, that Christian imagery is not subtle, but I think they also work as stories (not just message vehicles), for the most part, which impressed me.

I LOVED this in elementary school, and have never done a reread. I'm afraid the religious aspect will turn me away, and tarnish it forever!

I loved this in elementary school but not as an adult. But my dislike of it as an adult is only partly the religious stuff. I still have my original set, though.

I am really dense when it comes to religious imagery, I'm not going to lie, I didn't even notice it. Although, I'm not familiar with religious themes at all and most of them go right over my head since I wasn't raised in the church and didn't read this in school.

Same. This gives me hope a reread might not be so terrible after all, haha.

I am Christian as an adult and I didn't see all of it, either--I think that how obvious it is depends in part on your theology, etc, and I had even heard it was in there. I did get some of it and found it annoying.
