I am looking for book recommendation for middle school boys

Florence, here are a couple that I think would be interesting for middle school boys.

Florence, Ted Dekker is coming out with a new series for kids...not sure the age group, but it might be worth looking into...

Two of my boys loved the Redwall series by Brian Jacques. You should be able to find the books at any public library.

I'm looking for historical fiction books set during the middle ages, by a Christian author. I've read a series by Sandra Bryd and I just loved it, but I can't find anything else by a Christian that is based on real history in that time period.

Hi Beth! I know Nancy Moser has a series Women of History. Not sure the time frame. May 16th century.
Then, Tamara Leigh has a whole bunch of books that are medieval themed. They are loosely based on history. Age of Faith series, 8 books. The Feud series, 3 books. Lady series, 5 books. And there's a new series, Age of Conquest. It's a like a prequel to the Age of Faith books but they are not all released.
I've never read Nancy Moser but I can vouch for Tamara Leigh. :D

Florence, if your son loves fantasy kind of like Tolkien, the Galendor trilogy by new author W. Eric Myers is fantastic! My 10-year-old son and I are reading it aloud every night before bed, and he has forced my 14-year-old son to start them. I'll try to remember to let you know what he thinks of them.

Hi guys remember me? Lol. I have been reading different genres of late and really need to read a couple of Christian books or Biblical Fiction books to break it up a little. You can only read so many thrillers until it messes with your mind. Anyways will take any suggestions you have. Thanks!

Karen Witemeyer writes funny Christian historical fiction. I'm reading Janice Thompson and she writes funny Christian contemporary fiction. The only biblical fiction I've read is suspenseful. So, I'll let someone else recommend those. Happy reading!!

Christine, Elizabeth Camden writes fantastic (and educational) Historical Christian Fiction with a bit of adventure, but not really suspense. I'm currently reading The Lady of Bolton Hill Hill I've read several others of hers as well and they've all been great! If you are looking for a more lighthearted read, Rachel Fordham's books are sweet and the characters are trying to accomplish a mission but there isn't much conflict involved in either The Hope of Azure Springs or Yours Truly, Thomas

Hi Christine! For Biblical Fiction, I recommend Tessa Afshar and Connilyn Cossette.

I could not see those three books. But Rachelle Rae Cobb writes Medieval stories.

Hi - does anyone know if there will be more books in the daughters of the mayflower series? On the website it seems like they were planning right up to WW2 but not seeing any new books coming soon...

Hi Sarita! I was wondering the same and contacted the publisher. For now the series has ended. It could be added on to at a later time but this may well be the end.

Both are my favorite. Have you read Land of Silence. I cried all the way through it. I was a mess!! I have missed the genre so much I just picked up a Angela Hunt book Daughter of Cana. I am looking for more so I will take any more suggestions. Just happy to be reading from this genre again!!

Hi everyone! I am looking for books similar to MaryLu Tyndall--historical romance with action and adventure and a bit of supernatural/spiritual warfare. I am most interested in the action/adventure part because I have been reading a lot of historical romance, and a lot of historical romantic suspense and historical romantic mystery, but I am having a hard time finding historical action/adventure with romance. I figured this group would be the #1 place to ask for author or book recommendations! Thanks!

Have you read ? That one had a nice adventure streak to it. also had some great adventure bits.

For a strong Christian theme, have you read by Lori Benton?

I normally find a lot more adventures in the vintage novels. Have you tried any of these? (very historically accurate adventure; read the original version...it’s on Project Gutenberg and LibriVox, I believe) (this one’s got some spiritual warfare in it...a few swears too, though) (definitely some spiritual warfare in this one as a young man’s soul hangs in the balance)... (a tale of the Inquisition, deep Christian stuff...again make sure to get the original unedited version).

I've not actually ever read MaryLu Tyndall's books (though I want to!), So I'm not sure how these compare, but you *might* like these...
The Bracelet by Dorothy Love
Any of Elizabeth Camden, though some are more adventurous than others... Into the Whirlwind is about the Great Chicago Fire, so that was pretty adventurous!
Oh, and Carol Cox's Love in Disguise was pretty adventurous with some romance, but not as much of a mystery as some of the others I've mentioned even though it is about a Pinkerton agent.
If you're looking for some lighthearted adventures, curfuffles and skirmishes perhaps, then you might like some of Jen Turano's books. Some are more "high society" than others, but they're all really more about people who wish they *weren't* part of society.
I'm not sure if any of these suggestions are quite what you're looking for, and maybe someone else can chime in and tell me if I'm way off course, but I hope this list helps a little!

Not an author you here of very much anymore, but Linda Lee Chaikin had some good series that were historical action/adventure Christian books.

Camy, my friend Jennifer Appel wrote a series of Christian adventure with some romance. Some of the books had romance that wasn't the main storyline. I especially enjoyed Flight of Her Life (Silverwood Sagas) about a female pilot.

Love Linda Le Chaikin! Her books are great.

Camy some other authors you could check out are: J'Nell Ciesielski, Kristy Cambron, Carrie Turansky, and the Mayflower Bride series is good also (it's by different Christian authors) and the same for the True Colors series.

Kristy Cameron is amazing!!! Not super fast-paced, but there is always an adventure that seems to be so deep that it takes the whole book to resolve. I just finished The Butterfly and the Violin and it was absolutely wonderful and powerful!!!

I remember reading her books from the library when I was a teenager, the India series, and a series about pirates I think? I'll have to go check her page, but I haven't seen any books by her come out for quite a while.

Thanks! I will look those up! I think I did look into a few of the Mayflower Bride books that seemed to have an action-adventure style.

HOW do I search for a book of the bible I am currently reading? with it being the same version and everything??

Camy, The Pirate Bride by Kathleen Y'Barbo (one of the Mayflower Bride books) was a grand adventure. It's my favorite of the series so far.

Sarah, not every version of the Bible has the books individually on Goodreads. I usually mark the ESV version if I want to mark the books separately, because that version has a separate page for each of the books. Otherwise, I just mark the particular Bible I read, if I can find it.

Example of the ESV for Genesis:

I just type in whichever book plus ESV, like this: Genesis ESV
It will often be the first one that pops up, but occasionally it's farther down on the list.

Do you the Bible App? You can type in the version you want then the book of the Bible you want and the verse. Great resource. I have tried other versions of the Bible but I am an NIV person. The nice part is you can choose what you love! I hope this helped and if this is the wrong answer sorry! Have a great nite!!

Irene, have you read Colleen Coble's Aloha Reef series? I've read the first book a couple of times, and it's lighter on the suspense than her usual fare. I really enjoyed it and have plans to read the remainder of the series.
