(( omg nice! ya'll came ))

Raziel entered the classroom, in his arms a stack of -- well, nothing, because he had decided that practical lessons were the most valuable ones. He had learnt honing powers the difficult way, and that was how he was going to teach his students. His only concern was that they all had different powers, and his style of learning may not be the same, but nonetheless, Raziel stepped in confidently and gave everyone who was already there his signature grin.

"Hey everyone. I'm Raziel, and let's just wait a while more for more students to join us. In the meantime, do you guys want to introduce yourselves or ask me any questions?" he asked, as he burnt his name on the black board behind him, leaving a faint scent of smoke that did not actually smell that bad.

"So you two are siblings?" he asked Jordan and Lydia, mentally looking for their similarities and differences, a soft "hmm" coming out from him. Then he smiled at Amelia, "Nice to meet you Amelia."

After committing their faces to his memory, Raziel asked a follow-up question, sitting on the desk to create a better impression. "What are your powers? Kind of need to know them in this power honing class you know," he joked.

"I'm Ibiza!" Ibiza announced happily, as she always was, and gave her teacher a wave. She did acknowledge that he was quite good looking and in shape - for a God-knows-how-old teacher. She sat down, and saw Marlowe already asleep, and she shook her head slightly, wondering what the Power Honing class would do for them.

Raziel noticed three other people entering the class, and gave them a small wave, whilst acknowledging Amelia, Lydia and Jordan's response. He thought about other Gods or Goddesses that he had encountered in his years of living, and realised he had not encountered any and was definitely worried about helping them.

He heard someone mutter Marlowe, and looked closely, noticing it was the girl who looked slightly pregnant and tired. He raised an eyebrow, but didn't bring it up, wondering how he was going to keep her awake. Then the guy who was named Sterling, seemed to be in his own world, and Raziel gave an internal sigh, hoping that he would at least have some participation. "Right. So we have Jordan, Lydia, Amelia, Marlowe, Sterling and Ibiza," he pointed his fingers at them.

"I'm Raziel, as, you can see, and I'm the God of Fire. So we're in this class together so that we can learn how to better control your powers. What are the main issues you have had with your powers so far?" he asked the class, prompting them to share. He sent a little spark of fire to each of them, keeping them engaged.

Robin came in with Jacob. He saw the class had already started and took a seat, waving hi to the teacher. He still was slightly annoyed at what had happened today

ᏒᏋᎩ [Exam season :( (2 of 5 done)] (detectingeagle310) | 1233 comments Suddenly Jacob seemed to occupy one of the seats in the second last row. He had just arrived, being the God of Time he just seemed to appear out of nowhere while he had actually just stopped/slowed down time .

" My emotions sometimes take control and I'm unable to control my powers " Amelia said lowering her head.

Ibiza raised her hand to answer Raziel's question, and sighed while she said so, "Sometimes my powers gets jammed when I am fighting the Earth Monster, Tychus, like Sterling mentioned. As in, I am unable to reverse what the Tychus has done because it is an Earth element too and my magic refuses for me to hurt the earth."

Raziel nodded at each of their concerns, and formulated a little plan in his head so that they could each work on them, and kept a mental note to ask the guy who was not saying anything later on. "First of all, thank you all for sharing about your situations with your powers. I know for some of you this might be a sensitive situation, but this is a safe space, as cliche as it sounds. We will all respect one another, and respect each other's problem as well. Marlowe, it'll be best if you try out in class first, and if you reall have problems, I can help you afterwards. This is one of our most sensitive, and difficult classes within the academy, so I am very grateful that the lot of you are even participating. Back in my days--," then Raziel caught himself and stopped. He wasn't having a normal conversation; he was teaching for goodness sake!

"Right, I am going to pair you guys up now to do some group work. Jordan and Marlowe, because you two work on books. Lydia and Amelia because you two deal with darker elements. Sterling and Ibiza, because if Stering's problem is Gravity, then Earth has a part to play in it. And finally, the two new boys who have just came in are a group. I want you to work on this assignment within the hour of our class: Try to use a little of your power, and take turns intercepting each other's powers, and the one who is getting stopped, try to increase your power. Stop your partner's power. I will explain why this is important later. I will walk around if you need any help, but if you don't just keep working on this for the next 45 minutes and I'll give a debrief."

(( Z I think Jordan should RP with Marlowe! Ellipsis had put Marlowe's bit up there ))

Ibiza yawned as she stood up, "This is why I hate studying oh my god, I just wish that it was the first week of school again and we can just relax and stuff." Then she watched Alfredo with amusement, thinking that he behaved very much like cat, a cat who was entertained by a laser pointer, but now it was a ray of sun. She turned her attention back to Sterling, and thought about it for a while, "I have no idea, it's not like my Earth powers can go through your sun... Or can we?" she grabbed his hand, and in an instant sent them pummeling down the classroom and into the Earth where it was dark.

"I think we can work on intercepting your powers here. It's dark, moist and cold. The opposite of sun!" Ibiza said, proud of herself for thinking of that idea.

Raziel saw Ibiza and Sterling go down, but didn't worry that much as he knew that they were probably working on their powers. He would check up on them later anyway. Turning his body to the rest of the class, he walked over to Marlowe and Lydia, hoping that Marlowe was not too exhausted. "Marlowe, if you're too tired, let me know okay? But try your best with Lydia," he gave her a small, encouraging smile, and stood back a little, as he saw her walk in an out of a book. He was impressed, but wondered what would happen if he started burning the book, but quickly dismissed those thoughts. Raziel wouldn't be a destructive teacher; he was a reformative one.

(( sorry i was offline the whole day, er didn't expect everyone to leave but it's fine my bad ))

Raziel sighed as he saw that some of his students started to leave, and seemed uninterested. He was probably horrible as a teacher, and hoped that in other circumstances it wouldn't be as bad. He ended his class early, and waved bye to his students, his thoughts in a whirl. He noticed that Ibiza and Sterling were not back yet, and Marlowe was left alone, so he walked up to Marlowe and talked to her. But he did notice that the girl seemed to be more guarded, and tried to differ his approach this time - to make it less authoritative. "Hey Marlowe, sorry your partner left early. It's difficult for me to train a class this big," he told her, an apologetic look filling his eyes as he rolled it as well, ending his statement with a small sigh.

Ibiza grinned at Sterling, "Oh come on. Don't spoil the party; I mean, it's all about Earth and gravity baby." Then she cracked her knuckles as his sunlight burst outwards, but faded out later and he had collapsed to the ground. Her eyebrows furrowed as she knelt down and shook him gently, "Sterling? Don't tell me you-you're dead!" And of course he did, and she sat back down with a soft thud, releasing a breath of relief. "Damn, you scared me there for a second. How about you try to keep that sunlight on for a little longer? This would probably help with the whole earth, gravity issue thing," she suggested, not knowing how his physical body could take more of the whole power control thing.

(( oh man this is difficult XD i think i'll end the class for now, so it isn't so confusing ))

Raziel saw Jordan enter the room as he was talking to Marlowe, and gave her a small smile. "It's okay Jordan, you can leave. I've decided to end the class early anyway so don't worry about it," he told her, already feeling dejected from teaching his first class. It turned out that power honing was more difficult than he had realised, given that everyone had different elements.

Raziel gave a small grin as he saw Marlowe finally engaging with him in class, "I understand. It must be hard huh. Also, I'm not cool, I'm hot." Then he chuckled at his own horrible joke, before taking a seat right next to her, but keeping a relative distance, hoping that he wouldn't scare her or the demigod within. He held out his palm, and let a little flicker of flame dance on it, then closed it and held out his fingers, lighting up the tips of it with warm flames. "Yeap, the last I checked, I'm the God of Fire. Basically, I control... fire, and sometimes when people's fires go out of hand is because I am mad or something," he explained, and continued with his usual chatty self, "And this explains the deforestation with burning trees, and sometimes burnt houses. I'd hate to admit it - but they're all me. That's why I drink tea to calm myself down." He was always one to overshare about his powers, he had did that with Ash previously, and he felt a pang of guilt that he kind of just left her there for class - but he was sure she would understand. She was a pretty old Goddess after all. He shrugged, "Anyway, it's nothing too amazing, I'm just a good ol' fire guy. What about you? What else can you do besides hopping in and out of books?"

Ibiza patted his back gently in encouragement, "It's already better than earlier. See, it's working. I guess you are forced to increase your powers in difficult situations - and this is one of them." Then she held his wrist softly, before snapping her fingers and immediately the earth started to bring them upwards, higher than the classroom, and even higher than the trees. They were basically on a really obstructive looking Earth tower that was popping out from around the school, and on a relatively higher altitude. "This is as far as I'm willing to take us, but I hope you feel better with the Sun and everything! If you can bring me to Space or something maybe I can work on my Earth powers? I mean, it's definitely going to be hard considering how I'm... not even in space," she waved her arms, and increased the surface area of the tower, so that they wouldn't step back and fall by accident.

"Not too special? Whattt!" Raziel exclaimed, completely impressed by Marlowe's powers. "It's like, telling me you basically invented tea - and I love my tea, if you didn't know, but now you do," he grinned, and a little flame appeared on top of his head to signify his excitement. Realising this, Raziel quickly patted his head and extinguished the flame, leaving a small wisp of smoke that radiated out. He gave her a sheepish look and shrugged, "This happens. Sometimes our powers go haywire because of our emotions - and that is usually the most likely cause." He didn't notice that he had accidentally incorporated some lesson in his casual conversation, because his mind was usually working way too fast for him.

Ibiza grinned, "Well, this is just us several hundred metres up from ground level. It's really nothing special. I think Space would be more interesting." She then flicked her wrist and tried to bring them up even higher, and the Earth tower that she had materialised did bring them even higher, so that the view was even more spectacular, especially given the Academy's location - they were surrounded by natural beauty of hills and grass and fields.

(( It's aight! ))

Raziel pondered about it for a while, as it was unnatural for someone to be in a perfect relaxed state to having their powers go haywire. He ran through his own history, ad thought about the times where his powers were crazy, and a spark of flame appeared on top of his head again. "Sometimes, for me, I start destroying things by accident when I had experienced something beforehand, something that was emotionally weird, traumatising - anything. We Gods and Goddesses were created to be strong, but we are not invincible and not flawless. Maybe you had done something you wouldn't usually do?" Raziel suggested, and patted his head to get rid of the flame again as he leaned back, and thought about it some more.

"Right, so I'm not going to experience space," Ibiza gave him puppy eyes, but quickly replaced it with a smile at the sound of food. "Hey, food sounds good. I think the last time I ate... well... apart from the slushie, was two days ago? Before Marlowe and I disappeared into the book and she never came back," she answered, thinking back about the two days where she was worried. "Do you want to grab something at the restaurant?" Ibiza suggested, knowing that it was a relatively quieter place, as compared to the cafe that most of the students went to.

Raziel listened patiently as she recounted her wild night, and he was never one to judge because he wasn't an amazing individual himself. After she had finished, he noticed a tear rolling down her cheek, and the aura that she was emitting just seemed kind of sad. His heart went out to her, but being the emotionally strong person he was, Raziel simply put a strong palm on her shoulder and gave it an extremely encouraging squeeze. "Don't worry. Non of that matters now, as in, whatever out of character thing you have done. What matters is how you can better keep yourself, and by extension, your power in control. I believe that once you are able to do that, you can re-enter the book with your child." He gave Marlowe a soft smile as he pulled away, and said, "I'll help you reconnect with the love of your life. I can't stand watching my students wallow in sadness." As he ended his sentence, he snapped his fingers softly and sent a tiny spark of flame to her, placing it gingerly on her shoulder. It wasn't hot or anything, but it was just a symbol that even something that small is strong, and fiery, and Marlowe needs to hone that spirit and power, and he truly, truly believe she could.

"Your fangirls? I don't even see them fangirling around you that much. For all I know, they could be figments of your imagination," Ibiza teased, nudging his shoulders as they finally lowered all the way down and their feet landed gently on the solid ground. She muttered a "Thank you" to the Earth, wanting it to know that she appreciated it a lot, before turning back to Sterling and smiling as he brought Alfredo back. "Before we go, do you think we should change out of our clothes. I believe we have both been doing rather fascinating things in these," Ibiza said, referring to the fighting that Sterling participated in, and her sudden rush of research that she had done for Marlowe.

(( we can meet directly at the restaurant if you'd like! ))

(( oh dude you have a morbid mind !! shreds of paper? that's so insane i love it ))

"What if you just went in there temporarily, as in, occasionally so that he would be able to see his son or daughter. Every father deserves that. I will personally ensure that your powers don't go crazy when the time comes for you to re-enter the book, and I believe I have some contacts with some of my Goddesses friends to help you keep calm and maintain your power balance," Raziel suggested firmly, not giving up on her. He remembered the feeling of wanting to give up, and the feeling of someone not wanting him anymore. Shaking his head, he erased the appearing memory, and turned his attention back to Marlowe, wishing that he could do more than just promises. "If you concern is about you changing and altering the story, imagine how it would be further altered when the story becomes all about your husband losing his loved one, and his child all at once. Whatever book you were in will become even more a wreck then it already is," Raziel tried to convince her to accept his idea.

(( I think you can post there right away! ))

Raziel kept quiet as Marlowe told him about the predicament that she was in, and flipped the book to the very end to find that it did end on a very neutral note, not dramatic at all like how she described it. He was at a lost for solutions, and he was racking his brains really hard to try and console his student, knowing that again, emotions were the best and worst triggers for their powers to go awry, and in her current state, he did not want to see what would happen to the rest of the books that were being written at that very instant by various authors. As she sobbed, he gave her a gentle pat on the back, softly, and in a fatherly fashion, "At least there is a positive. Many of us cause so much destruction in our lives that it eats at us every single day... Marlowe, I know it is going to be a difficult journey, but based on our short class earlier, it seemed like you have pretty good close friends that will help you through it. So if you don't put faith in yourself, put faith in them, trust them." His heart almost melted for Marlowe, but he told himself to stay strong - she needed someone to talk to, and it seemed as if she had been holding all of her emotions in for a relatively long time.

At her last statement, Raziel bit his lip, and struggled not to say something with his hyperactive brain. He wanted to tell her that he did know of Gods that had given up their status as a God to mere mortals, and sometimes Demigods, and this was what caused so many more Gods and Goddesses to suddenly pop up around the world. They earned their status, immortality and power from their previous counterparts. However, it was still a rare scenario, and it is a long journey before any of that power transferring can happen. Instead, he said, "Listen, I will help you find a way back into that darn book. Shockingly, Pride and Prejudice is one of the few books I've read, and I know people who knew Austen, so maybe that can be of some help. Just, give me some time, and don't lose hope? It'll be bad for the little demigod and yourself."
