The More Beautiful World Our Hearts Know Is Possible

Hi Everyone! I hope everyone is doing good!

I am really enjoying going through this book again at a slower pace...I feel like I´m constantly underlining things and thinking ´omg yes! I see it!´ So far I´m only up to the chapter on ´´Climate´´. How about you?

Anyone else having a similar reading experience? or anyone really not convinced by what they have read so far? Would love to hear your thoughts!

Lorna | 7 comments Hi all,

A similar pace here, I'm up to Science.

Normally I read books quickly and forget most of of the detail but having a book club is slowing me down so hopefully I should get more from it than my usual style!

Lots of interesting stuff so far. I've been keeping a note of quotes or themes that I find interesting so will see what stands out after reading some more then post about it.

Yes me too Lorna! I read this book only 6 months ago but it I read it so fast that when I´m reading it now it´s like reading it for the first time!

You´re right having a book club is helping me too. I´ve never been in a book club before but it´s true that it does help give you the motivation to read and to take it in better.

I´ve just read the chapters on hope and despair this morning and thought of you! :)

Hi Everyone!

I have has a bit of pause on the reading front for the last week or so...yesterday I picked it up again and it felt like coming home :) Something relaxed as I connected with my ´tribe´.

I was reading the part Chapter on ´´Urgency´´ and it was really what I needed to read! I had been feeling a bit guilty about abandoning the new projects I have started but someone couldn´t muster the will to get back on it all. Then in this chapter I found my answers:

´´What I have described is much like the birth process. From what I´ve witnessed in the birth of my children when the time comes to push, the urge is unstoppable. Here is the epitome of urgency. Between the contractions, the mother rests. Can you imagine saying to her, don´t stop now! You have to make an effort. What happens if the urge doesn´t arise again. You can´t just push when you feel like it!´´

Feeling so much better for resting for a while before getting back to it! And it is a funny coincidence that just as I was accepting that it was ok my me to rest, Aurélie left a lovely comment and Gwen (who is my friend and colleague from work) messaged to say how much she was enjoying the book...it felt like a beautiful sign of synchronicity of life letting me know that I was on the right track an showing me that I don´t have to PUSH so hard and try to force everything. It´s so to take the foot off the gas sometimes and see what happens :)

I don´t know about you guys, but this last two weeks there have been so much stuff going in the world that I found myself not picking the book up much or finding it difficult to absorb.

It is so full of deep, deep stuff that when there is so much going on I guess it´s difficult to take it all in...I felt full- no more space available for new ideas! maybe it has been a month of letting things digest a little bit before I could proceed....

It´s interesting that Charles talks about this in various places about non-doing, not forcing things, and acting in the right moment.

´´..the rhythm of the phases of action and stillness has an intelligence of its own´´ pg 140

Anyone else experienced anything similar over the last few weeks?
