I’ll add the rest of this part hol up
There’s cream colored roses and lilac violets. I huff. Penny observes it, then leaves the room to let me get dressed. I try not to think about what I’m putting on. Once i’m in the suit, I notice a note.
(Also, I understand that this starts at chapter 5. I lost the rest :( )
Simon.
I just proposed. I’m looking at him in painful anticipation. He seems to not know what to do, like the question’s swirling in his head and he’s frantically searching for an answer. Before long he blinks, and seems to come back to earth.
“Simon Snow,” He starts. My heart starts pounding. Please don’t do this, my mind screams. But all I can do is wait for him.
“Of course I’ll marry you.” As soon as the words exit his mouth i’m in the air, grabbing his hands and sweeping him up with me. My arm is safely around his waist, so he won’t be falling. I then kiss him, and pour all of (it’ll never be all) my love and appreciation for him into it. We pull apart for air a little afterwards.
“I love you.” I say breathlessly. He giggles, exhilarated. My hands are cupping his lukewarm cheeks.
“Say it again.” He says, out of breath from those three words.
I’ll say it again.
I’ll say it a thousand times.
I’ll scream it until my voice runs out.
I love you, Baz Pitch.
“I love you.” I repeat.
“Again.” He says.
I laugh before following his command.
“I love you, I love you, I love you.” I giggle. He sighs, slumping into my arms. He’s still smiling. He hasn’t stopped since we shot into the air. From below us, in the distance, I hear clapping. Baz and I land, and my eyes search the beach for Penny. She’s standing near another girl, the one who’s clapping with a big smile on her face. I smile back at her, and Penny waves her over as she’s making her way towards us. The girl follows, her heeled Doc Martens digging into the sand. Sooner or later they’re both in front of us. I hold my hand out to the girl, and she takes it hesitantly.
“I’m Simon.” I say, observing her. (Not like that, jeez.) She’s wearing a red beret and a shirt with a boys face on it that glows the same color, under the photo are the words Troye Sivan. It’s a name, I think. She’s got red plaid pants, and wire-rimmed glasses, like Shepard. She also has cloudy blue eyes, and caramel brown hair that’s chopped short. Once we shake hands, she reveals her identity to me.
“Uh, Eden!” She says, seeming to loosen, just a bit. Then she’s clutching her phone, and through her fingers I can see the same name that was on her shirt. I ask her why she was clapping, and she responds:
“Uh, I just really, y’know, thought that the proposal was super cute and I kinda, for some reason, felt really happy for you guys even though I don’t know you or anything.” While she’s talking she’s not looking in my eyes. She’s looking at the sand or her shoes, and fiddling with her phone. I smile.
“Well, I mean, now you know us, so it’s not as bad, is it?” She tucks a lock of hair behind her ear, a laugh at herself escaping her lips.
“Yeah, not as bad.” She says, nodding. Eden seems to spot Baz over my shoulder then, and turn on her phone as she begins to talk.
“You! I know you! I follow you on Instagram!” She exclaims, pulling up Baz’s Instagram page. The name is, masterpitch. I let out a giggle. Clever. Baz nods, grinning.
“Huh. So you do.” As Eden brings her phone back to her face to show Baz fanart she’d made, and he seems utterly interested, I notice something on her neck that’s glittering. I look closer, and realize it’s a golden necklace with a tarot or playing card of some sort. Upon further inspection, I confirm, It’s definitely tarot. The Hanged Man card. She catches me staring at it, and smiles.
“It’s a tarot card. The Hanged Man.” She explains. Even though I already knew. I nod, and she observes the necklace for herself. “My boyfriend gave it to me. It’s a …sort of, joke, between us. Kind’ve.” I don’t understand where the joke would be. Eden sees the look of confusion in my eyes.
“It’s a thing we’re into, y’know? A character that we like is linked to the card. He has one too.” She then laughs at herself again. “Kinda dorky, I know.” I shake my head, smiling at her in reassurance. After, Eden finds the fanart. She turns her phone around, letting us see. It’s Baz, obviously. And his hair is flowing and framing his face much like it is now, but there are live bees and flowers in it on this one. Brightly colored flowers heavily contrast from Baz’s pale, naked shoulders. His mouth is partly open and revealing his sharp fangs. He seems just as much of a disgraced angel in this than when he did after we escaped the polecat and his band of minions. Baz is speechless. The real one. He’s looking at every single piece of the art and trying to find something wrong with it. All I can do is gawk at it. Eden laughs, turning the phone off and shoving it in her pocket.
“But yeah, that’s what I do.” She giggles.
* * *
Not much longer passes until we’re all sitting on the beach and getting to know Eden. She tells us stories of her boyfriend and her tendency to get attached to book characters. Penny, Baz, and her get into this talk about music, and how Stevie Nicks is one of the greatest of all time. I have no idea who that is, so I just sit and listen to Baz.
“Her lyrics have so much magickal worth, too.” He adds. Eden gleams with a smile.
“Can you show me?” Baz seems alarmed, then, and shrinks back to his spot beside me.
“Don’t worry, I’m a magician too.” She says, taking out a pen with a star charm, and casting the spell, “Sincerely, Me!” One i’ve never seen used, but have heard of. It’s supposed to send you a letter from yourself to help you get where you need to go in life. All of a sudden a paper aeroplane starts zooming towards us. It lands at Eden’s feet. She crumples the paper, then looks back at Baz.
“Now can you show me?” He nods, taking out his wand and before casting says, “Let’s start with a fun one, first.” Then, “So I’m back, to the velvet underground, back to the floor, that I love.” The world around us begins to shift, and we see a foreign place. To me, at least. Baz is in awe. There’s a mural of the sun and moon on the ceiling, and there’s children running every which way. Baz giggles, seeming at ease here. Not until I look at the door is when I realize where we are.
The nursery. Baz took us to the nursery. I look at him, but he’s completely distracted by a kid in front of him. It’s …him. But younger. 17 years younger, to be exact. The little Baz is tugging on the big Baz’s arm and asking him to play. Baz laughs and tries to say no, but little Baz isn’t having that. He throws a tantrum, screaming at the top of his lungs and kicking things on the floor. Baz casts the spell again, emphasizing back, so we’re on the beach once again. He collapses onto the sand, laughing.
“Crowley.” He chokes through his laughter. I find myself laughing, too.
“You were such a brat!” Penny giggles, punching his arm. He nods, telling her he knows. He finds his way to his feet again, grabbing his wand from its place in the sand.
“Now, a less fun one.” He closes his eyes. Baz’s voice comes out melodic and enchanting.
“Rock on gold dust woman,
Take your silver spoon,
Dig your grave.”
Through the next line of the song, Baz becomes more sure of himself. He glows a rich gold.
“Wake up in the morning,
See your sunrise loves to go down.
Lousy lovers
Pick their prey but they never cry out loud
Cry out.”
The glow becomes more intense, and Baz begins to lift up from the ground, and his hair starts to whip around his head.
“But did she make you cry, make you break down?
Shatter your illusions of love?
And is it over now, do you know how,
To pick up the pieces and go home.”
His voice is thunder. It rings out around us. The glow is nearly blinding. Is this what it looked like when I went off?
“And go home,
And go home,
And go home.”
The last home stretches out, and Baz’s voice surrounds us. He’s nearly 10 feet in the air.
“Pale,
Shadow,
Of a woman.
Black widow.
Pale
Shadow
She’s a dragon.
Gold dust woman.”
“Woman,
Woman.”
His voice seems to reverberate off of imaginary walls, and it’s so loud that Penny’s covering her ears. It seems like her and Eden can feel something I can’t. But I can feel something, too. The heat. It’s getting worse and worse. Penny and I scream at him to stop, that it’s too much, but he booms over us. I feel sweat dripping down my temple. I swallow the bile in my throat, and command my wings to take me up to him.
“Baz!” I scream. His eyes are glazed over and white. He’s repeating the spell over and over again. I grab his hands, only for him to sear me once I touch him. I snatch my hands back, hissing. I yell down to Penny.
“He’s too hot! I can’t grab him!” Her eyes widen, and I can tell she’s thinking of cooling spells. Before long she screeches,
“You’re as cold as ice!” I nod, and watch as the spell hits Baz, but he seems to absorb it without any damage being done. Well, I don’t want damage to be done, I just want him to be at a grabbable heat. I touch him again, and get burned worse than before. His hair is still whipping around his head. More aggressively now. I feel a hook in my stomach, a burning sensation that i’m used to. But now, it isn’t mine. It’s Baz’s. I thrust my hand out and cast, the only spell that would get his attention.
“Tyger, Tyger, Burning Bright!”
CHAPTER 6.
Simon.
When the spell lands in the sand, (I don’t wanna hit Baz. I’d torch him.) Baz’s eyes become his familiar grey, and he hits the ground with a thud. I feel dizzy. I look over at Penny, and she rushes to try and steady me. I see shadows of what looks like people. They grab me, firmly, and I thrash around and try to scream at the top of my lungs or kick them in the teeth. Before I fade to black, I hear a familiar voice.
“We’ll take him off of your hands, Mage.”
Lamb.
I kick and scream, before someone knocks me out.
When I wake up I'm in a bedroom. Baz isn’t beside me, but there’s a note where he should be. I take it weakly, opening it slowly.
Simon, love.
I didn’t know he wrote in cursive.
I have a plan. Don’t fight anyone. I’m trying to charm my way out. (Which i’m quite good at, surprisingly) Braeden seems to be enchanted with me. So does Lamb. I’ll keep them both at bay, you and Penny search for a way to light this place up and go.
I love you,
Baz.
The thought of Braeden being near Baz makes me shudder. So does the thought of Lamb being near him, so really, we’re at a loss. But Baz is the only one sort of in league with them. He has what Braeden wants, and the charm and sparkle that Lamb can’t seem to get enough of.
“You are a spectacle.” I heard him say that night on the Strip. Baz just giggled. A door beside a full length mirror opens, and Penny steps into the room. I’ve never been so happy to see her. She’s got on a navy blue dress that wraps around her thighs, and I can tell how much she hates it. She’s also wearing big sparkly diamond earrings and a matching necklace. Her hair is falling in loose curls around her face. Her deep brown eyelashes have changed to black, lifted and curling upwards. She sits at the end of the bed, sighing before taking her glasses off and wiping them on her dress.
“Simon,” she starts.
“Yeah?” I wait.
“I really hate this dress.” Penny huffs. I laugh, trying to tell her it looks good on her. Thank Morgana Penny and Eden both have unusual magickal instruments. We could be out of here in no time.
“Where’s your gem?” I ask. Penny digs it out from her bra, showing me before putting it back. I groan.
“I’d rather be at Baz’s right now.” She mutters. I scoff.
“I’d rather be standing face-to-face with Malcolm Grimm.”
Penny laughs. “You play a dangerous game, my friend.”
I giggle, before noticing a suit in the corner of the room. I furrow my brow, repulse immediately filling my belly. Penny seems to see what i’m scowling at, and stands up to bring it to me. It’s the sort of blue that the ocean is far out. Like when you’re looking at it, the color that the ocean becomes far away? yeah, that color.
