FantasticLand by Mike Bockoven"it works! people take vacations to theme parks!
I couldn't decide between these two so I'm nominating them both.Choice #1
The Con Season by Adam CesareChoice #2
At the Meade Bed & Breakfast by Robert Swartwood and David SilvaI will say that both APOCALYPSE ISLAND and SACRIFICE ISLAND are on my TBR pile but judging solely by the names neither are places to which I would book a vacation. :-)
C'mon folks... The idea is VACATION. Imagine locations or places you would want to visit for pleasure or fun but the story involves horror instead of that fun you would anticipate.
I nominate Vampire on the Orient Express

First book in a serie and tbh the other parts looks a lot better but this is a good one too!
I'll nominate The Ceremonies - Jeremy Friars decides to spend the summer in quiet seclusion on the Poroth farm, apparently it doesn't go well.....and Blood And Rain Summer holidays meets lycanthropy.

I second this one too, I've been wanting to read The Ceremonies
for a long, long time.
I should be in Japan now :( so how about a Japanese curse to make me feel a bit better for not going?I nominate Ring by Koji Suzuki.
What a terrific theme!
Hard to pick one but the book that immediately came to my mind is Island by Richard Laymon, think last time I read it was 2009 and I still love it.
Island by Richard Laymon
When Rupert Conway set out on a cruise with seven other people, he planned to swim a little, get some sun and relax. He certainly didn't plan to get shipwrecked. But after the yacht blew up, that's what happened - he and his shipmates were stranded on a deserted island. Luckily for them, the island has plenty of fresh water and enough food to last until they get rescued. And luckily for Rupert, most of his fellow castaways are attractive women.
But that's where his luck ran out - because the castaways aren't alone on the island. In the dense jungle beyond the beach there's a maniac on the loose, a killer with a murderous heart, a clever mind and a a taste for blood. He doesn't like his new neightbors and he plans to slaughter them all...one by one.

I nominate
. i m not sure if is more of a thriller though. I ve been wanting to read this for awhile.
I love this theme! I have two suggestions:
I Remember You: A Ghost Story
(Ghost story set in Iceland)
The Graveyard Apartment
Set in 1980s Japan.
I also really liked Siracusa by Delia Ephron. I think it feels a little more like a psychological thriller, but it fits the theme perfectly.
I nominate The Knacker (Cornish Guardians 1) by Gareth K. PengellyIt's set in Cornwall, I so want to visit and it's scary as hell.

The Knacker
oh yes! that is kinda folklore-ish too! i'll +1 that. i think Poldark (the new one) was filmed in Cornwall. I'd like to go there as well.

+1 to both of these! Funnily enough, I had a trip to Japan planned for this year and one to Iceland next year. Definitely not going to Japan. Here's hoping Iceland won't fall through...

Hello! I hope everyone is doing good and staying safe. It's time to start thinking about nominations for June. Since we have been on lock down and some of us have been out of work, we are going to take a book vacation. June's theme is VACATION. examples would be-
* A book set in a country you would like to vistit
* a place, landmark, national park or forrest you would like to vistit.
* beaches and islands, of course, or even a book that takes place on a cruise!
Use your imagination and go wild but remember our RULES
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Please do not nominate books that we have read as a group within the past 3-4 years. The list of recent group reads can be found here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
**As always, authors may NOT nominate their own work**
Remember, nominations with the most seconds, thirds, etc. are more likely to make it onto the final poll for voting.
