Australian Women Writers Challenge discussion

After not quite reaching my goal last year, I'm going to have another go at Franklin this year. I have absolutely no idea what I'll read, but I'll begin with Sisters Of Mercy by Caroline Overington as I'm halfway through it already, courtesy of last year's challenge.

I'll be interested to see what you think - I'm a bit blah about it so far, but I often find things improve towards the end of books.

Trouble is - if a book is a bit blah at the beginning I am mostly disinclined to be persuaded to continue. Unless I am made curious. :)

I can relate to that Sally. That's why I only give stars 3-5. I don't review 1 and 2 star books. 1 would be the equivalent of reading one page and not liking the book and 2 star is about twenty pages. Either way I don't continue to read the book. Life is too short!

And I didn't begin with Sisters of Mercy, I started with Ambassador 2: Raising Hell by Patty Jansen, which was a five star read for me.
