Madison Green | 3 comments The first thing I learned from reading the poems in her book was that it is really important to use very descriptive words in your poem because you don't have very long to explain something like you would in a story. "My mouth is wet, my throat is dry. I'm going blind in my right eye. My tonsils are as big as rocks, I've counted sixteen chicken pox."
The second thing I learned from reading the poems in her book was that although not all poems need to or should rhyme it is good every once and a while to make a poem that rhymes. It can make it ore playful and catchy. "She had blue skin, And so did he. He kept it hid And so did she. They searched for blue Their whole life through, Then passed right by- And never knew."
The third thing I learned from reading the poems in her book was that even poems can have dialogue and tell a story between tow people. You can give what they are actually saying to show what's going on rather than allude to it. "The Little Boy and the Old Man. Said the little boy, "Sometimes I drop my spoon."Said the old man, "I do that too." The little boy whispered, "I wet my pants." I do that too," laughed the little old man. Said the little boy, "I often cry." The old man nodded, "So do I." But worst of all," said the boy, "it seems
Grown-ups don't pay attention to me." And he felt the warmth of a wrinkled old hand. I know what you mean," said the little old man."
