Marcey | 13 comments Hi, I'm not sure if I should read the Divergent series. My friend got me the book so of course I'll read it, but I want to know people's opinions. If you could please comment (positive or negative) that would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

m (bella_mckenzie) Hi Marcey,i absolutely love the Divergent series and i would recommend it to anyone. It's full of action and frightening events,it will literally blow your mind away!(maybe i was being a bit too dramatic) Currently i'm reading Allegiant the 3rd book of the series and i love it so far,so i think that you will love it too. I'd also like to add that there is a 'Divergent' Movie that came out in March 2014,it's really good and you should definitely see it after reading the book.:)

M. A. Hickman (mahickman) | 29 comments Ok I will try not spoil anything for you or Bella since she is reading the 3rd book right now. I LOVED book one and two, the series very quickly became a favorite and I was so excited for the movie. I reread the first two books with my book club and then we all read the third book togethe. The third book demolished the whole series for all of us in my book club. We no longer could enjoy the movie still went and saw it, yes it is really good but know what the author did we were way to emotional to truly enjoy the movie. We were so heartbroken and upset that as a group we turned Roth's name into a curse word. So yes divergent and insurgent are amazing...just be prepared to have your dystopian world ripped apart in alligant. Sorry you wanted honest.

Marcey | 13 comments Thank you Mille, I appreciate your honesty.

Kayla Howarth I absolutely loved Divergent. I enjoyed Insurgent. I could not stand Allegiant, but I'm guessing for different reasons than Millie.
I realise this was posted fifteen days ago so you've probably already read it, but my opinions would be to not bother with the third book. For me it was the poor explanation in the third book for the whole reason the world is the way it is- for me it wasn't good enough. It was also done in alternating chapters between tris and four (a pet hate of mine). Did you enjoy the first book?

chinami | 697 comments Divergent and insurgent is really good. But Allegiant did not live up to the standard.

Marcey | 13 comments Okay thank you. I havent read the first book yet, I have been caught up in other books but im going to read it soon.

message 9: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (aconight) The series was really off putting for me because of all the praise and glory it got. But then this month, I decided let me at least read a chapter. A chapter quickly became half of the book. Its a brilliant story filled with all a book lover could ask for. I highly recommend it and I can't wait to continue the series. I know you already are set on reading it. I hope my opinion gives you that desire to finally pick it up.

Bella | 14 comments Loved the first two. Hated the third. I'm wanting to reread the first two. But will skip the third as it took me forever to get through because t didn't hold my attention like the first ones.

Kelly Elise | 188 comments love love love love loved it. probably my favorite ya series, and pretty much all I read is young adult series lol but I agree with some other comments, I felt the third book was amazing but also rough as a reader

Beck Tomkinson | 9 comments I have them on my shelves to read but I'm waiting for the movies. Any books to movie have always killed them for me so I'll watch, enjoy then really fall in love when I read.

It's how I operate unless a movie follows after eg Vampire Academy

Don't have to wait much longer for movie 2! Less than a month until Insurgent, eeee!

Beck Tomkinson | 9 comments Yes true but movie 3 will be next March?
I think I will wait for all 3

Laura Maisano (talanaray) | 7 comments I also enjoyed the Divergent series. As for the third book, there's some plot things that seemed a bit off, but I still enjoyed it as a whole. I think the author took a risk and offended a lot of readers, but I applaud her for all the feels I had reading it.

I agree with araceli ... I have a love hate relationship with this series. .. I love it but really hated how the author ended it. ....I dislike it so much that i was cursing at the book or loud and my bf had to come in to see if I was all right

message 18: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Elise | 188 comments sooo speaking of the movie, I hate when they screw up a major plot point! For anyone who has read book 3 and seen movie 1.... did you notice (view spoiler)

Lol yeah, it's good that we can have that spoiler option but it makes me want to click on it like there is this big secret everyone knows except me and I really want to know so I click on it and it's nothing that I already didn't know lol yep this is how I think

Me to Sylvia. It takes a lot for me not to read a spoiler when it's a book I want to read.

It's terrible. Sometimes I like to know so to prepare myself like reading the last page of the book lol yep, I used to do that as a teenager. Don't know why, maybe I didn't want to waste my time with disappointment but I soon stopped that and just trusted that the journey is the reward and not how a story ended. Though, still love a great ending!

Maggie the Muskoka Library Mouse (mcurry1990) I found this an excellent novel, and had trouble putting it down. I would definitely recommend it!

message 25: by S.L.J. (new)

S.L.J. (sammyslj) | 12 comments I've never really understood the Divergent series. It's been proven time and again that nothing is more detrimental to peace than splitting people into different groups and continuously telling them that they are different.

Yet in this book they force people to choose factions and then act all shocked when it results in war. :/

message 26: by L.S. (new)

L.S. May | 15 comments Honestly, I didn't really like the book (haven't seen the movie.) A lot of it didn't make sense to me and it dragged a bit, particularly towards the end.

After the first one I wasn't interested in reading the others.

message 27: by Camila (new)

Camila (camiquinta) | 38 comments I'm not going to say i don't liked them because i quite enjoyed them but i dont have the love i have for the hunger games, which i really really liked!
i agree with all the comments above the third book is just No! but of you are like me and cant leave a trilogy unfinished then by all means read the third one.
Plus i dont know why everyone is so crazy about four! i really didnt like the character didnt seems masculine at all to me. but oh well... to each its own
