debating whether to buy paperback or read ebook. ebook is free for moi, but i like having famous books i’ve read in actual copies on my shelves. ackkk. i might just read ebook; save my wallet and a tree.

Robin | 15 comments Hahah Eliza same I always want to have the physical copy of the book, if populair or pretty I think I’m going to get a audio book and e-book on this one.

Marion (monkey130) | 9 comments The audiobook for this is pretty good. It’s narrated by Noah Galvin from The Real O’Neal’s and Dear Evan Hansen.

scout (annabettyjx) | 339 comments Mod
oop, i do not get on well with audiobooks haha! i’ve been trying to read the audio of A Wrinkle In Time for abt a month and i’m only an hour or two in lmao

message 6: by gillian (new)

gillian I'll probably be downloading this one on my kindle sometime soon :)

Raynah I’ve been wanting to read this book but have never gotten around to it so this is the perfect time to read it. I’ll probably listen to the audiobook

Charlotte (charmknz) | 217 comments Mod

Jia Jones (jiathebook-thief) | 37 comments Same Abigail.....I saw the movie a few weeks ago and decided to read the book, read a few chapters but didn't really connect so left it for another time.

Juuso | 43 comments Hi so sorry for stupid question, but i am new to these groups so do i only "have" to read this before July 1st or is there any schedule?

So what i am asking is do i have to read it like 100-page every week or can i read it in like day if i feel like it?

And sorry again if this is stupid.

scout (annabettyjx) | 339 comments Mod
it’s just a free schedule. go at your own pace, you can even finish after July, just do you! :) (and don’t feel stupid, we’re all unsure weirdos here)

Charlotte (charmknz) | 217 comments Mod
haha just like eliza said! its just a chill group to read books together. there's no expectations or anything so you can read at whatever pace you like :)

scout (annabettyjx) | 339 comments Mod
so i was gonna read it on ebook, but i’ve kinda decided not to read ebooks anymore because it takes away actual physical reading time and my parents keep on nagging me about the unnatural lights in a phone or whatever so i’m going to order the book now (i probs will not be finished by end of Jun) x

Juuso | 43 comments Charlotte ✰ wrote: "started reading the book today and already I'm falling in love with it again! its one of those books that ill always enjoy every time i read it :)"

I just got mine from library. I am so excited to start it. Maybe i even start it in few days!

scout (annabettyjx) | 339 comments Mod
i’ve watched the film and i really liked it, so it has a lot to live up to hahaha

Juuso | 43 comments Eliza Jamieson wrote: "i’ve watched the film and i really liked it, so it has a lot to live up to hahaha"

I have not haha. Basically i have not heard anything about what happens, i have never read or watched the movie adaption of this (i know lot of my bookish friends love this)

scout (annabettyjx) | 339 comments Mod
ah cool. it’s a really fun story. it’s kinda a stereotypical coming-of-age story but it’s very unique in some aspects :)

Juuso | 43 comments Eliza Jamieson wrote: "ah cool. it’s a really fun story. it’s kinda a stereotypical coming-of-age story but it’s very unique in some aspects :)"

Oh, i am so excited!

scout (annabettyjx) | 339 comments Mod
the book came! i’m about 35 pages into it and really enjoying it. i like how honest charlie is ;)

Charlotte (charmknz) | 217 comments Mod
the film is awesome! its one of those lucky times that the adaptation is as good as the book (in my opinion lol) !

scout (annabettyjx) | 339 comments Mod
yes book charlie is slightly different from film charlie though it’s weird ;)

scout (annabettyjx) | 339 comments Mod
so i finished the book and gave it a 5/5! agh, i don’t know what it was that separated it from other YA novels, but i just loved it so much :). i did pick up that Sam has long hair in the book, but I prefer Emma Watson with short hair as Sam tbh!

Juuso | 43 comments I just started it :)

message 28: by Charlotte (last edited Jun 19, 2020 03:00PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Charlotte (charmknz) | 217 comments Mod
thats awesome Eliza! tbh i never even noticed sam was supposed to have long hair in the book even though ive reread it tonnes lol. short hair definitely makes the character
also hope u like it juuso!

Juuso | 43 comments Been little bit confusing so far (i am in act/part 2, i do not know what it is called).

Charlotte (charmknz) | 217 comments Mod
yeah the format of the story how its all written in letters can be a bit hard to get used to. i find watching the movie puts it all into perspective and makes the plot make sense

Raynah My digital copy of the audiobook from the library finally came in so I’ll start listening to it soon

Charlotte (charmknz) | 217 comments Mod
yay!

scout (annabettyjx) | 339 comments Mod
charlotte, i didn’t think about that! i mean i knew what was happening, but thinking back on it, it was probably because of the film :)

Juuso | 43 comments Charlotte ✰ wrote: "yeah the format of the story how its all written in letters can be a bit hard to get used to. i find watching the movie puts it all into perspective and makes the plot make sense"

Yeah, the language is bit confusing.

Juuso | 43 comments Also, it will maybe need second read to understand everything.

Raynah I just finished listening to the audiobook and I really liked it! I really enjoyed seeing the relationships between Charlie and his friends and family develop

Juuso | 43 comments So i apologize already to ask this, but i am confused so is Patrick gay? :D

scout (annabettyjx) | 339 comments Mod
yes :)

Juuso | 43 comments Okay, i am starting to like it more! I just cried like 30 minute (i do not often cry while reading).

scout (annabettyjx) | 339 comments Mod
i ended up crying, mostly at patrick. he just has a really nice (but sad) storyline :(

Charlotte (charmknz) | 217 comments Mod
it really is a sad book :( but in a really good read kinda way

Juuso | 43 comments Okay, i am really starting to love this book! I am in page 208 (in the finnish version)/88% done. I thought this book is gonna be really cliche and an average classic, but wow!

Juuso | 43 comments Juuso wrote: "Okay, i am really starting to love this book! I am in page 208 (in the finnish version)/88% done. I thought this book is gonna be really cliche and an average classic, but wow!"

AND I LOVE BILL!

Juuso | 43 comments Okay, i just finished it and posted my review here on goodreads. Is it okay if i posted here too? It has no spoilers.

Charlotte (charmknz) | 217 comments Mod
yeah ofc juuso! :)

Juuso | 43 comments So i gave it 4/5 rating.

I had big assumptions before going to this book. I thought this is gonna be cliche (which it happily did not feel like, but i still do not know for sure was it).

At the really start, it was kinda hard to get inside this story. The writing felt strange in my opinion. I still do not get why this was written so correctly. They are still letters, who writes letters like that? Before the start the writing style did not bother me much. Like i said this language was not my favorite. It worked here, but it was really risk.

At the first "act" mostly (or whatever it is called) Charlie was really stupid. Charlie made bad decisions a lot which sometimes annoyed me.

I liked the ending except epilogue. The epilogue was okay, but not as good as previous letters.

These characters were mostly nice and realistic and this book felt like home. All in all, this was a warm reading experience, which made me think a lot!

Now i really have to get my own copy of this book

message 47: by Juuso (last edited Jun 25, 2020 11:19PM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Juuso | 43 comments Wow, it is longer than i thought (sorry :D).

scout (annabettyjx) | 339 comments Mod
no it’s fine!! i agree with the bit about the cliche! i thought it was too and it really shocked me :)

Juuso | 43 comments :)

Charlotte (charmknz) | 217 comments Mod
(turns out i have service at camping!) I just finished reading it and omg i do love this book! that thing you said Juuso that this book felt like home is so true!

I love the relationship between all the characters like in the rocky horror group and also especially between charlie and his sister. i think the whole thing is really well written not necessarily in terms of the language but just the way the story is told.

the revelation at the end is extremely shocking every time i read it. it explains a lot about Charlie's trauma and the way he is.

one tiny thing i also really liked (which im sure my english teacher would love lol) is how all the tiny details are repeated kinda like easter eggs. like how Charlie eats fries with his mum at the end, referencing that lost boy in the shopping centre as one example. it makes you feel nostalgic about the book the same way as the characters do in the 'remember when' scene.

i think this is a really good book and definitely one of those ones that i keep re-reading every couple of years.
