Yes! Some of my favorites are Harry Potter (of course), Fablehaven, Beyonders, the Unwanteds, and KOTLC
Favorites: Keeper of the Lost Cities, the Historian Tales, the Mysterious Benedict Society, and Story Thieves.Least favorites: Uhhhhhhhhhhh... there are some I don't like, but I would kind of tangeant (I can't spell that word) if I were to list them here.
You don't know what you just started. The Mysterious Benedict Society is just so well done. The characters are super complex and, unlike other books, are actually relatable. The plot is one of those storylines where you can't predict where it will go; it's full of sudden plot twists, revealed histories, and surprising motivations. TMBS is more mysterious than most books I've read, which I ususally don't like, but this is just... *chef's kiss*.
The beginning is full of promise, and gives exposition in a way that isn't irritating. With each new character introduced, I've found myself scooting forward to the edge of my seat (metaphorically). When I reread, I find myself smiling with nostalgia. The middle is full of tension and intrigue, and with each new revelation it is understandable to gasp. The end is full of resolution (if that makes sense) but still leaves promise for the story to come... and you can't help but smile at how the characters interact with each other.
The characters themselves are one of my favorite elements. Reynie is smart and loving, this combination often keeping others in the front of his mind. Sticky is a bit akward and endearing, making him relatable (especially to me). Kate is adventurous and brave, and you can't help but smile when she has a classic Kate moment. And Constance, finally Constance, is so incredibly amazing and surprising (although she can be frustrating at times), and she is most definetly one of my favorite parts of the series.
TMBS can reach out to a lot of people. For example, if you aren't really into reading series(es?), you can read the first book and be fine. If you are the opposite, the 4-book collection is a must-read. It has mystery, humor, adventure, action, and a few elements of sci-fi. It doesn't really have much romance or fantasy, but it doesn't need them. It's also clean, which is a huge plus for me, at least. :D
Wow! Thanks so much! I’m definitely going to read that this summer. And I’m very glad it’s clean too
