We will have weekly competitions in this group. NO ONE IS PRESSURED TO JOIN! I think it'd be cool if we were given a different genre each week and have a poll on an item, place, name, character, etc. and we have to write a short story about it.

I think we'll start the first competition on Monday, (8th of June) how's that sound?

Okay, as we're jumping into our first competition, we need to choose some prompts/topics.
Our genre will be high fantasy and I think it'd be fin if you guys could post settings in the Writing Contest #1 topic.
How this would work when we write our stories is we'd write a short story in a high fantasy genre (magic, Wizards, dragons, the like), and we'd put all your setting suggestions that would be posted in the Writing Contest #1 topic and vote on which we wanted the most. So our short stories would be a high fantasy in whichever setting won.
I thought this would be a fun experiment, let me know in the after affect if it worked and what you'd change!

I'll give everyone until 12:00 mountain time to post your setting suggestions.

I suppose I should explain the rules 😅

Sushie || "To gain your voice, you must forget about having it heard" -William Ginsberg (73687) | 199 comments Mod
1) These contests are short stories, I don't want to put to many restrictions on your writing, but I think it's best if we keep it between 100 hundred words and the goodreads text box limit.
2) They may contain innapropriate content, but try to keep it at least PG-13
3) It must include the topics (if it was a Sci-Fi about orange juice: there must be orange juice, and it needs to have the sci-fi genre in it, even if it doesn't end up being the main genre of your story.
4) Please don't vote for your own stories when we're choosing the winners, it makes it way more fun!
5) NO harsh critism. Suggestions, questions, thoughts are fine, but DO NOT say their story sucks or that you hated it in any way.
6) NO COPYRIGHTING!!!!!!!!! THESE ARE STORIES THAT PEOPLE WORKED HARD TO WRITE! DONT STEAL THEM!
7) Have the GREATEST TIME OF YOUR LIFE! It's meant to be fun, so enjoy it!

OOPS!
Plagg, I accidentally deleted your comment, I was trying to reply:
"Can we state our dislike for a character? Like it irks us in a way?"

Yeah, but just try not to be deconstructive with your comments!

Sushie || "To gain your voice, you must forget about having it heard" -William Ginsberg (73687) | 199 comments Mod
We're coming into our second contest now and we need to decide our topic. Please vote on the poll:
https://www.goodreads.com/poll/show/2...
So we can see which topic wins. Instead of suggesting on the topic this time, however, I allowed write-ins on the poll so you can add your own votes and this way will be more efficient. The last contest didn't have many entries, hopefully we'll get more this time! The genre is Science Fiction and we're picking an object to focus on for this contest. The poll will end on the coming Sunday, which is six days from today or the 20th of June. In the future, we'll try to finish the polls by the following Monday of the end of the last contest, but for now, this will do.
Have fun!

Alpha : ♡ Petition GR!!! ♡ (desiebookie) I would like to try out a contest. So, I would like one this week. I think you could maybe give a bit more time to write a rough draft, edit/fix it, and type the story with final details. I like writing fantasy and animals alot.

Sushie || "To gain your voice, you must forget about having it heard" -William Ginsberg (73687) | 199 comments Mod
Okay!
The next contest I will give everyone two weeks. We'll have the poll today and tomorrow and start on Monday. If that sounds good. Our poll will be about character traits for this one. Our main genre will be Romance. Everyone can add w h a t e v e r subgenres, just apply romance. I will set up the poll shortly!

Contest number three is over and number four approaches. But for this coming contest, things will be a little different. Based on the poll results and comments and PMs I have received, it seems members want more voting and more prompts in the contests. I am going to converse with them and a decision will be made by Sunday or Monday.

Shannara (httpwwwshannarareads2com) | 5 comments Hey all!! Is contest #4 coming up? I’m totally excited to join up!!! But when I submit my story, please keep in mind I’m totally an amateur and I’ve never published anything more than poems. But I’m ready to do some writing!!! 😄😄😄

Sushie || "To gain your voice, you must forget about having it heard" -William Ginsberg (73687) | 199 comments Mod
Yes! It's starting today and ending two weeks from now! I was just about to set it up!

Sushie || "To gain your voice, you must forget about having it heard" -William Ginsberg (73687) | 199 comments Mod
Alright, Destiny had a great idea that we can do two contests at once, to give more of an optional part in it. I really liked it, so I'll be making #5 and #6 for, probably the next three weeks, and members can choose one or the other to do. I will try to make them very opposite from each other so it isn't a fantasy and a fairy tale topic for both, but with more variety!

Sushie || "To gain your voice, you must forget about having it heard" -William Ginsberg (73687) | 199 comments Mod
And if anyone else has any suggestions, I encourage you to share them with me or another moderator! P l e a s e !

Silver - Have a great day, you're loved Can we do both contests, or just one?

Sushie || "To gain your voice, you must forget about having it heard" -William Ginsberg (73687) | 199 comments Mod
Yeah! You can do both, that's perfectly fine!

Silver - Have a great day, you're loved All right, good to know! Thank you!

Sushie || "To gain your voice, you must forget about having it heard" -William Ginsberg (73687) | 199 comments Mod
Remember that both Short Stories are due by tomorrow at midnight if you want it to be entered in the polls! If anyone needs extensions, let me know and I will adjust accordingly.
Thank you, happy writing!

Alpha : ♡ Petition GR!!! ♡ (desiebookie) I've had a lot of school work for the past few weeks including some tech issues so I didn't have time to write a story. I'm sorry guys! I'll try to get one written later if I can.

Sushie || "To gain your voice, you must forget about having it heard" -William Ginsberg (73687) | 199 comments Mod
Does anyone want another week or are there no other entries? Please let me know so I can understand where everyone's at???

Silver - Have a great day, you're loved I wrote an entry for "This is war...", but it was so full of cliches that I'm embarrased to show it to the public. I keep meaning to rewrite it, but haven't had time. If the contests were extended, I'd probably send in entries for both

Sushie || "To gain your voice, you must forget about having it heard" -William Ginsberg (73687) | 199 comments Mod
Okay, for how long? I'd love to see more entries! Anyone else who could use this?

Silver - Have a great day, you're loved 'Til this weekend would work for me, but I can do before that.

Sushie || "To gain your voice, you must forget about having it heard" -William Ginsberg (73687) | 199 comments Mod
Alright, we can end it this Sunday night instead. Does that sound good?
I'm excited to see your entry an hope we can get more as well! Thanks for participating, I know it can be hard with school and whatever else you might have, but this is just meant to be a fun exercise! Don't let it add to your pile of to-do's

Sushie || "To gain your voice, you must forget about having it heard" -William Ginsberg (73687) | 199 comments Mod
I'll post the polls on Friday/Saturday. My apologies, end of term is coming up and school has gotten all the busier. Best of wishes to you all!

Silver - Have a great day, you're loved When are we planning for the polls to go up?

Sushie || "To gain your voice, you must forget about having it heard" -William Ginsberg (73687) | 199 comments Mod
