Here’s a link to a Buzzfeed article to help educate ourselves. I’ve already ordered Stamped From the Beginning and White Fragility from the recommendation Traci. https://www.buzzfeed.com/jessicaprobu...
I have also read a lot of books by POC. What I have read recently (I will look to see if I can find the article) is it is also helpful to read books about POC and by POC. I am a teacher in an urban neighborhood and I can tell you that the fiction books also really helped me examine my biases. Because I was able to see that there were things that I could not even begin to relate to. I am always reading YA books to find to recommend to my students or to read aloud to my students. I just finished Look Both Ways, by Jason Reynolds and it is really good. I highly recommend any Jason Reynolds books. There are also many quick reads. If you get a chance, I completely suggest starting with Ghost. Jason Reynolds is an amazing author and that book really helped me see some biases I didn't know I had.
