Are all the agronyms in this book distracting to anyone else?

Probably distracting for all non-military personnel.

Yes! If you were never in the military it's like reading, "Some kind of officer ordered me to go someplace, in some type of vehicle, we were all carrying some type of weapon and getting ready to do something. Some type of soldier was killed and sent to some place in a thing at a place."

Exactly! I know KIA and IED but that's about the extent of my knowledge. I feel like maybe he's trying to make a point especially in some stories where they are just so heavily used.
Liking the book a lot though. Stories are devastating and so interesting. Gives a real feel for how "war" is carried out down to the administrative duties of reimbursing victims etc.

I had to look up a few here and there, but, with the exception of the story "OIF" (where the overuse of acronyms was intentional), I wasn't bothered or distracted.

Yes, I stupidly didn't realize the use of the acronyms in OIF was intentional until I thought about it for a while. I guess the military has it's own way of talking.
