Introduce yourself!
I'm Wendy, JA fan but would love to become more immersed in everything JA. Just watching your Youtube announcement of JA July and am really excited to see the novel Charlotte. My daughter and I firmly believe she is the hero of P&P
Hello! I am Brandy, and I love Jane Austin! My favourite book of her's is Persuasion, and My second favourite is Pride and Prejudice. I want to try this challenge because I have of course read all of her main 6 books, I am currently reading Sense and Sensibility, so I'm not sure that counts for the challenge, I'll have to read another one next month. But I am excited to read more of her lesser known short works, and books about her (which I am not sure why I haven't done already). I am so glad I stumbled across your announcement video! A fabulous idea!
Hi everyone! I am Gemma from Read A Book Gem on BookTube. I have not had the best experience with Jane Austen in the past (mainly due to bad teaching at school) but I am very keen to give her work another try now I am older and somewhat wiser!
I have only read Emma and Pride and Prejudice so keen to give these another go in the readalongs. I am excited to put together the rest of my TBR soon and to immerse myself in the world of Jane Austen in July! :-)
Hi I'm Alex, I have only read Pride and Prejudice (which I like) and Northanger Abbey (which was an ok read) so I really would like to read her other novels and let her amaze me. I Heard great Reviews about Emma so that's the one I'm picking up. I'm very excited to finally get to be a Jane Austen Fan!
Hi, I'm Rebecca. I love Jane Austen. I read Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility at least once every year, and rotate through her other books with alternating years. I'm not sure what I'll be reading this year, but look forward to the discussions of all the books.
Hi! I'm Laura from Mexico. I have never read Jane Austin but I would love to read Pride and Prejudice and other books you can recommend.
Hi, I'm Lana from Bosnia and Herzegovina. I've read three of the main Jane Austen novels (Pride and Prejudice, Northanger Abbey, Sense and Sensibility). My favourite so far is Pride and Prejudice (and my favourite adaptation is also P&P from 1995).Katie and Marissa, thank you for hosting this readalong! :)
Hi everyone! I'm Fatma from Canada - I first came to Jane Austen from the 2005 Pride and Prejudice movie, which inspired me to read the book, which I obviously loved A LOT (it's my favourite book), and from then on I continued to read all of Jane Austen's others works. After Pride and Prejudice, my favourites are Emma and Persuasion, in that order.I also used to be an English major in university so I love reading any and all literary criticism about Jane Austen and am always looking for new accessible and interesting academic works about her books.
I’m Linda and I’m very excited for Jane Austen July this year. I took part last year whilst heavily pregnant and although I didn’t take part in the read along, I finished Northanger Abbey two days before I went into labour so watching Katie’s introduction video on YouTube made me a bit nostalgic. I don’t think I’ll get as much reading done this year but I’m aiming to reread Emma and maybe a non fiction book.
Fatma, if you haven't read C.S. Lewis's essay "A Note On Jane Austen" yet, I highly recommend it. you can find it in his book Selected Literary Essays.
Hi everyone! I'm Mary from Canada. I was first introduced to Jane Austen at the beginning of high school by a friend who was absolutely obsessed with her. I started with Pride and Prejudice and have since read all her other novels with the exception of Mansfield Park. As it stands right now, Pride and Prejudice is my favourite and Emma my least favourite. This read-a-long came at the perfect time as I have recently ordered a paperback set of Austen's novels which are due to arrive in early July (I already own a set of hardcover editions which are gorgeous but a pain to read).
Most likely, I won't be trying to complete the actual challenges. Rather I'm going to focus on reading as many of her novels as I can, starting with Mansfield Park and then re-reading several others (ideally Persuasion, Northanger Abbey, and Pride and Prejudice).
Hello everyone! I'm Emily from the US. I'm so excited for this Austen challenge! My favorite Austen books are Persuasion and Pride and Prejudice. I'm looking forward reading some new Austen inspired and related works as part of this challenge!
Hi there, I’m Amanda from Derbyshire, UK. (The finest county in the land according to Aunt Garner). I’ve been in love with Jane Austen since I saw Colin Firth jump into a dirty pond back in 1995 when I was 15 yrs, and my mother informed me it was based upon a novel. I promptly gobbled all her novels up and have continued to re-read them frequently, and everything and anything to do with her. I quite like her you might say! Xx
I'm Nastya and live in US. Few months ago I have read 6 of her novels. I love her comedies better - P&p and Emma. Persuasion was her grown-up romance. Do not like other novels and hate Mansfield Park!
Hi, everyone! I'm Gabriel, from Buenos Aires. I love Jane Austen's novels and English classics, in general. Thanks for the invitation :) Feel free to add me if you're into classics too!
Greetings! I've been a dedicated Janeite for more than 20 years. I've read all the novels numerous times, some literary criticism, seen all adaptations from the 90s onwards (except Zombies... I don't do zombies) and some older ones as well. I have some new books on my nightstand to read and look forward to sharing the experience with all of you. I've been to Bath and Hampshire on a Jane Austen pilgrimage. Check out my blog https://bluestockingmusings.blogspot.com for book reviews, theater reviews, movie reviews and my trip to Bath!
I'm Susanna and I live in Scotland. I love Jane Austen (ofc) and I'm excited to take part in this challenge for the second year! My favourite books of hers are Pride & Prejudice and Emma so I will be joining in both read-alongs. i hope everyone has fun :D
Hi everyone! My name is Umut. I live in London. I'm over Twitter as UmutReads, or Instagram @umut.reads . I love Jane Austen, but I've read them long time ago and haven't read all her books. So, I can't wait to read Emma :) Nice to meet you all!
Hello, everyone. I am Juan Manuel, from Mexico. I can't quite explain why I love Jane Austen's novels so much, although I may e it is because regardless of subjecf matter, she has, bar none, the best style of every English novelist I ever read. My favorite Austen novel is always the one I'm reading at the time. I will do my best and complete the challenges.
Hi everyone! I'm Natalia, from Spain :) (in IG @bibliotecariafrustrada) I'm an English literature lover but I just read two Jane Austen's novels: Pride and Prejudice, which I really liked; and Northanger Abbey (for me, it was ok). Nice to meet you all!
Hi! My name is Thea, from Scotland (@bibliophilethea on IG).
I've never read any Jane Austen but I've always been meaning to do so, so this readalong is the perfect opportunity.
Happy Reading :)
Hello from Central Florida,USA. I am a Pride and Prejudice addict. Escaping to the world of Jane Austen has helped me throughout my life. I read Jane Austen in High school. My maiden great aunts ( yes 2 old maids who lived together) gave me a Jane Austen anthology that I still read today.
Hi everyone my name is Sarah. I’ve only really read Pride and Prejudice and am excited to read her other novels and some adaptations. I’m also looking forward to learning about her life and time she lived in.Happy reading and it’s lovely to meet you all x
Hi everyone :) I'm Janice from Canada and am so happy to be in this group. I've only read Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice (this being read many times and my favourite) I want to read more of Jane Austen's other works especially not her famous novels. I really like all the challenges but may not be able to participate in them all as I usually only read 1 book/month. I may just carry over the challenges throughout this year. Thank you for creating this challenge and group. :)
Hello there! I am odi and I love Jane Austen´s books One of my favourites? love all of them tho´ Persuasion is one of my most beloved.English is not my language though love it and I am more and more eager to read all in its original English. I´ve read the other 5 and for sure I´love to reread them : )
Hey! I'm Andreea (@livelifethruliterature on IG) from Canada. I've read 3 of Jane Austen's major works, Emma, Pride and Prejudice, and Northanger Abbey. I loved them all but my favorite has to be Emma. Although I'm fairly new to Jane Austen, I'm eager to read more!
My mother handed me her old, musty copy of Pride and Prejudice when I was sixteen and it was the first novel that I ever truly loved. Immediately upon finishing it, I read it again. I read all of her novels by the time I finished college and have been revisiting them so many years later, although, sadly, I haven't re-read P&P in I-can't-even-think-how-many-years. It is time.
Hi, I'm Jim, I live in Georgia (the country not the state), where I teach English as a foreign language. I enjoyed the "Odd Women" Readalong in May. Of Jane Austen's work I have only read "Pride and Prejudice", so I should definitely read some more. I've been working my way through Dickens's novels recently, I've read eight of them and I've just started reading "Dombey and Son".
Hi everybody, I'm Iza, a librarian from France who recently read The odd women with many of you. When I was a teenager, I read all of Jane Austen's novels in French and since the end of last year, I started re-reading them in English this time. My goal was to re-read everything by/on Jane Austen this year so this group is absolutely perfect for me.
This morning, I watched Katie and Marissa's videos and I'm so excited to participate !

Of Jane Austen's work I have only read "Pride and Prejudice", so I should definitely read some more. I've been working my way through Dickens's novels recently, I've read eight of them and I've just started reading "Dombey and Son". My local bookstore had all the Jane Austen novels from which I chose Emma...though "Northanger Abbey" was tempting because it is short...
Hi I'm Anjani and I've read a few of Jane Austen's books. Though my Jane Austen journey began precariously with me disliking the revered Pride and Prejudice, I gave her another go with Northanger Abbey, and am so close to done with Emma, which I am also really loving.
I'm excited to read Persuasion and Lady Susan this month.
I'm excited to read Persuasion and Lady Susan this month.
Hi, I'm Rachel and I'm from Warwickshire in the midlands. I absolutely love Jane Austen and was so excited to discover Katie's BookTube called 'Books and Things'. It was there I learnt about Jane Austen July and I thought when it next comes around I'll definitely do it - thus this is why I'm here. I'm so looking forward to delving more into my passion for all things JA with you all in July.I would say my favourite JA novel is 'Pride and Prejudice' but would struggle to find a 2nd place... I think 'Persuasion' just edges it but it's a close call.
Hi, I’m Bianca from Ecuador. I’ve read all of Jane Austen’s major novels and my favorite always fluctuates between Pride and Prejudice, Emma and Mansfield Park. It depends on my mood I guess. I’ve also read some Pride and Prejudice retellings, including the The Other Bennet Sister which I adored (go Mary!!!).
I’m looking forward to reading Austen’s other works,re-reading Emma, and sharing everyone’s analysis and opinions.
Hi everyone! Susan here. I've read all of Austen's works at least twice because I love her witty social commentary. I also apparently have some unpopular opinions about ranking her novels.1. Persuasion
2. Sense and Sensibility
3. Pride and Prejudice
4. Emma
5. Mansfield Park
6. Northanger Abbey (the only one I've only read twice)
Hi everyone, I'm Elizabeth, a newspaper reporter by trade and was an English major in college, so yeah....I love Jane Austen, it's like a requirement right? Very excited to participate in this for the first time!!
Hello everyone! I’m Bonnie and I live in California. I am really looking forward to Jane Austen July and enjoyed last years Readathon so much. Thank you Katie and Marissa for hosting the it again this year. Jane Austen is one of my top favorite authors of all time. I have read all of her books except Sanditon and Jane Austen’s Letters. My favorite books of hers are Pride and Prejudice and Persuasion. I have the Everyman’s Library collection of her books. I will attempt to read Sanditon (and Other Stories), and Jane Austen’s Letters. The other books I have to choose from are The Other Bennet Sister by Janice Hadlow, Jane Austen at Home by Lucy Worsley, Miss Austen by Gil Hornby and Longbourn by Jo Baker. For books by other authors during Jane Austen’s time, I have Evelina by Fanny Burney and Marriage by Susan Ferrier. I also have What Matters In Jane Austen by John Mullen to read. I like learning more about Jane Austen’s life and the time period so I hope to watch (and rewatch) some documentaries about Jane Austen, especially the ones by Lucy Worsley. I would love to read other authors from Jane Austen’s time that are not very well known if I can find any. As for movies, I won’t be able to resist watching Pride and Prejudice for the millionth time. Reading authors works from bygone eras is my favorite genre.
Hi I’m Scott and I’m the taller half of the BookTube channel Gunpowder Fiction and Plot.I’ve been researching Jane Austen for a video and I’m super interested in rereading Emma and maybe P&P too. I’m also hoping to finish her 6 novels, I still have Northanger Abbey and Mansfield Park to go.
Hello!I am new to Jane Austen. I have read Pride and Prejudice and Persuasion so far. I plan to join the July readathon for Emma and watch the film adaptations afterwards.
Hi. I’m Rose and from Wales. What first started me on my Jane Austen journey was watching the Pride and Prejudice 1995 series. I heave read all 6 books but some of these were a years ago. I have to give some of these ones another go.
Hi everyone!I'm Sonia, from Mallorca, Spain.
I've read all of Jane Austen's novels, I'm very fond of them. I've read end re-read them many times.
My favourite novel is "Persuasion", followed so close by "Pride and Prejudice" and "Emma".
Very excited to participate and read all your comments.
Hi! I'm Juliana from Brazil. I have a IG literature page and I'm huge fan of Jane Austen! I'm very excited to participante in the challeging this year :)
Hi! I'm Carmen from Spain. Thank you Katie and Marissa for hosting this event and providing us with recommendations! It is a pleasure to share our love of JA with so many people. I've been a fan of JA for a while and I'm looking forward to having the opportunity of re-reading some of her main novels and reading her earlier works for the first time. Her History of England sounds specially appealing to me.
Hello! I’m Sarah from Canada. For as long as I can remember, I have enjoyed the film and tv adaptations I could get my hands on for sense and sensibility, Emma, pride and prejudice, and lady Susan! I’m thrilled to come across this group and have a community to reference as I make my way through Jane Austen’s novels for the first time (and hopefully have even more fun watching adaptations and other Austen material in the future :)! I am aiming to read all of the novels I have of Austen, including Pride and Prejudice, Emma, and Sense and Sensibility ( I knew there was a reason I’ve been squirrelling these away) as well as a spin off novel Letters from Pemberley by Jane Dawkins!
Hello, I'm Laura from the UK. I grew up in a different Steventon to the one Austen was born in so my earliest experience of her was redirecting confused Austen tourists! I read Emma and Sense and Sensibility as a teen and returned to her novels during lockdown: I've now read them all apart from Persuasion, which I'm more than halfway through and could be a contender for my favourite. I plan to re-read Emma in July as it's the only one I haven' returned to since I was old enough to drink.
Hello All,
I am JoAnne, and I have loved Jane Austen since my friend and neighbor introduced me to the 1995 Pride and Prejudice in 1997. I quickly fell in love with Austen's books, and have seen more or less every filmed adaptation except the 2020 Emma, which I am saving for July. I've already unofficially begun by re-reading Persuasion, and watching both the 1995 and the 2007 adaptations, and will join the Pride and Prejudice and Emma group reads. I teach high school English in Arizona, though my freshmen don't read any Austen.

I am Pam and I live in New England. I have read Pride and Prejudice and I am almost done with Northanger Abbey. I am looking forward to reading Emma and participating in Jane Austen month. It seems like I find out about these types of things right before they start or after they are happening. I am so glad I came across the videos on YouTube so I can prepare.
HelloI am Maddy from Paris France and it is my third year of Jane Austen July participation . Jane Austen is my favorite female novelist and I have red all of her books over the years. I have some ideas about the books I want to read in July but I have not definitely decided on the number of books.
Looking forward to re read Jane Austen and anything related to her novels next month
Hi, I'm Nikki, originally from the UK, but now live in Singapore. I first read Pride and Prejudice at the age of 16 (many years ago!) and it changed my life! I had always been an avid reader, but that book totally absorbed me! I will join the P&P read along and read the Penguin black classic of Lady Susan, The Watsons and Sanditon. I will also watch as many adaptations as I can fit in! Colin Firth and the lake scene still makes me go weak at the knees after all these years!!!!

I'm Katie, from Books and Things on Booktube, and I love Jane Austen S LOY. My favourite of her books is Pride and Prejudice, and my second favourite is Mansfield Park.
