"I don't want to run against either of you," Ever said unhappily. "I still want to enter though." She bit her lip, thinking.
Marigold ate the last piece of her bagel, thinking about this.
"I have a few questions-" Ainsley started but the Headmistress stood up and cleared her throat again.
"Kids, I almost forgot to tell you that the three schools competing had a discussion a few days ago, and they decided that one person from each school will join the tournament. Four other people will be chosen from each school to be runners. Runners will help the main person, and they will also compete in another series of events. So, five people will be chosen. One main runner. And four side runners. Do you understand?"

Marigold grinned. They could help each other now!
Ever laughed, relieved. Then she thought over the headmistress' words. "Wait, we don't get to choose our runners?"
"No, I don't." Marigold counted the different schools. "Probably Beauxbatons."
"I don't know. Maybe she'll say-" Ainsley began.
(announcement in the great hall to come in one sec!)

Marigold gasped. "If one of us is chosen, we can pick the other two!"
She did a little victory dance in her seat.
She did a little victory dance in her seat.
"Oh, yes! I would too!" Marigold refilled her goblet with water. "No doubt about it."
"Oh, that! My sister made it up when she was little. I've been using it as a victory dance ever since." Marigold grinned.
"I'm hoping Beauxbatons is coming! Ive always wanted to be an exchange student to France!" Ever said hopefully
"Oh!" Ainsley grinned. "I wonder why they are continuing the tournament. Some of the parents may be angry."
Marigold looked at the headmistress. "Hey, do you know what's wrong with the headmistress?" she asked. "She looks horrible."
Marigold caught herself. "No, not like, ugly! She looks sad."
Ainsley looked at the headmistress. "Yeah, she doesn't look well. Did you see something?" she asked Marigold.
"I don't know," Ever frowned. "I wonder what that teacher said."
"Yeah," Marigold said. "I don't know."
"You guys still want to go to Diagon Alley?" Marigold asked hopefully.
"Absolutely," Ever said, even more excited. "I'll need more spells books, just in case, and history books, to see what the challenges might be, and-- " she caught herself. "I'm getting too far ahead of myself."
Marigold did her victory dance again.
"Yes, me too." Marigold said. She suddenly felt a hand on her shoulder. It was the potions teacher. "The headmistress would like to see you in her office, Miss Stramble." "Um, okay." Marigold followed the teacher, waving to her friends.
"Once we're done here, let's go!" Ever exclaimed, feeling more animated than she had been in forever.
Marigold sighed. "And, for all we know, they're watching us right now and listening to any plans we might think of," She glared around at any invisible intruders and got weird looks from the other tables.
Ever frowned. "Would it be overboard to cast Muffliato?" She didn't want anyone listening in on their conversation, especially not some invisible intruder.
“When are we going to Diagon Alley?” Angeline said, walking over to the other three girls. “Ohhh and did you hear the headmistress’ announcement? Now we can run together!!” She squealed in delight.
(they already went to Diagon Alley)
(sorryyyy!)
"I know! Would you run, Angeline?" Ever asked excitedly, taking another big bite of cake. "I need this recipe for my parents," she mumbled, hoping the ingredients wouldn't be too...Magical. Her parents were Muggles.

( (we can go again. maybe we can make a teacher come with a big group bc of the recent stinkbug event?) )

( (sure!) )
Marigold finished her cake and set the plate aside. "Do you want to go to the common room?" she whispered to the others, not wanting to be overheard by an invisible Stinkbug.

"Sure," Ever murmured. She finished her cake and grabbed her book bag. "Where's Sage?"
