Hello Everyone,

Looking at some previous posts, I thought this new topic would be relevant.

If anyone has uploaded his or her writing, please let us know about it here. Maybe you can include the genre and a little bit of what it's about.

Then, the members of the group can head on over to your profile and writing, and give our comments.

Thanks,

Amanda

Hello Bryan,

I headed over there; however, it says that no writing has been added. I can click on the title of your column, but the actual column isn't there.

Anyway, I have posted a couple of my short stories too. One is called "The Cowboy's Battle" and the other is called "The Sandcastle." Have a look and let me know what you think.

Amanda

Hey everyone,

I posted a short story of mine. It's called Gone Forever. The genre is drama (if you couldn't tell by the title). Since my profile and everything is private, I'll post the link here...

http://www.goodreads.com/story/show/1...

I don't know how I came up with it, but it just kinda popped into my head. Hope you like it. :)

-Bookworm

ps. It's kinda funny because I named those characters after people I know. Kristi is this lady I know from church and her boyfriend's name is Will. But don't tell them that I named those characters after them. :)

Good thread Amanda!

I actually have 4 of my writings posted here. 1, horror story, 1 fishing story, 1 poem, and 1 about relationships.

Would really love to hear what people think of them!

Thanks,
James

Earon S. | 1 comments Thanks, Amanda!

I posted an introduction to my future nonfiction book, "Divine Primates: Hope for Our Endangered Human Species." -- How One Man's Journey Through Environmentalism, Fatherhood and Ancient Wisdom Traditions Reveals A Path Out of the Conflicts and Consumerism that Plague Humanity.

Ambitious polydisciplinary project, indeed, and I would appreciate comments. Right now, I'm thinking of self-publishing because "first" books about saving the world are difficult to place without a major platform.

Peace,

Earon

Xerxes Break(Vivian Ephona) (ephona) OKay since my profile is on private for various reasons, I will post my bit of writing here! It's the prologue to The Search For The Rose Crown.

Long, long ago in the Sol galaxy also known as the Milky way, people from Earth finally got enough technology to expand their horizons. Spaceships and satellites from all over the planet filed out of their own galaxy to discover the unknown. In a matter of years, they had figured out that there were 36 main stars with galaxies. All the galaxies revolved around one central star with no galaxy, Polaris.
In a furious space race, the countries set out to claim those galaxies for their own (except for Betelgeuse which, at that time, was so big that the danger of exploding was too high). Years and years later, most of the galaxies were claimed. People now lived on the planets in those galaxies.
Some had gained independence from their mother country. The galaxy of Jota was one of them. Our story starts in one of the most prime and inhabitable planet called Diglo. The planet had discovered magic and had appointed the Head Wizard as the ruler of the planet. At this moment in time, Carlzle is the Head Wizard, ruling over the people peacefully and wisely. He and his two friends had pushed their way up though Wizard's school together learning the tricks of the trade. He was chosen by the retiring Head Wizard to succeed. But there was one who sought his power.

Richard | 1 comments Hi there,

I recently posted a Shakespearean cliffhanger on my profile. I was watching ER and wondered what the world might be like if the Bard had written for the operating theatre.

http://www.goodreads.com/story/show/1...

While you're there, you may want to take a look at an excerpt from my first novel, Six Fang Marks and a Tetanus Shot, which is scheduled for launch on Amazon.com and .ca on April 1.

Looking forward to your comments.

Best,

R.

I'm still working my way through your writings and making comments. School and work keeps me busy. Anyway, if you have time too, here's a link to my latest story. I would like to start sending it out to publishers, but I want to get opinions first.

message 20: by Michael (new)

Michael Sorensen | 1 comments Okay Ephona,
To tell a story, you must get your readers in a stage called 'willing suspension of belief' They have to BELIEVE in your story. Right now you have geography issue which make this literally impossible.
First Galaxies are emmensely huge conglomerations of Billions of stars. Galaxies do not revolve around stars of any kind--except the black holes at their centers. Polaris is a Star IN the Milkyway Galaxy...so is Betelguese. I think you are mistaking Solar Systems for galaxies. Also, Galaxies are so huge--you could populate millions of Solar Systems with planets--in just our galaxy, the Milky Way.
Magic in sci-fi... Any sufficiently advanced TECHNOLOGY will appear to be magic to those who do not have that technology. Magic can exist in a tech society (ie Laurell K. Hamilton et al) but there generally are some sort of supernatural laws at play--which you do not discuss, and really need a mention.
So there are some pointers--have at it. Enjoy creating and show us the actual story some time!

Mike

Xerxes Break(Vivian Ephona) (ephona) Mike,

I am planning to have advanced technology. It would make perfect sense. Also, this is the story I'm critically revising so it's nice to have some pointers now! Thanks.

Also, my profile has changed so here's the link (there's more stuff)

Kenzie Your story 'Stairway to the Stars' is so good, Sella.

message 30: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 47 comments i agree :)

message 31: by Sella (new)

Sella Malin Thanks! I don't deserve all the credit, though. My friend wrote Chapter 1, 2, and half of three!

message 32: by Kenzie (new)

Kenzie Are you guys doubling?

message 33: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 47 comments oh cool! Joint stories rock. i am writing two right now...

message 34: by Kenzie (new)

Kenzie I've never written a joint story. They're supposed to be a lot of fun, though.

message 35: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 47 comments hey kenzie, maybe i could write a joint story w/you! they are so much fun :) !!!!!

message 36: by Kenzie (new)

Kenzie Sure, what do you want to do it on? And what person; first, third?

message 37: by Sella (new)

Sella Malin I'm writing 2 joint stories too. Except Stairway to the Stars hasn't been a joint story lately...I lost touch with my friend, so since then I've been writing it by myself. I wrote the prologue, she wrote Chapter One, we wrote ch. 2 together, and we wrote the beginning of chapter 3 together. Since then I've been writing it myself. Brigid and I are writing one, too.

message 38: by Kenzie (new)

Kenzie What's yours and Brigid's about?

message 39: by Sella (new)

Sella Malin These three princess sisters. The oldest one disappears, and everyone thinks she does, but it turns out she was kidnapped and is held hostage in the spirit world. They have to rescue her before the King trades himself for her. What about yours?

message 40: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 47 comments yay! our story is awesome.
anyway... kenzie, in answer to the question that you asked before: i prefer to write in first person, but i'm not too picky about it. i can write in third person, too. but when i write in third person it makes me feel kind of distant from the character.

message 41: by Kenzie (new)

Kenzie I started out third person writing, but I'm really enjoying first. I like both. Sella, what do you mean 'what about yours?'

message 42: by Sella (new)

Sella Malin Oh, I thought you started your joint story already. Nevermind.

message 43: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 47 comments i'm writing this other joint story with a friend from school. ours is about these two teens--a girl and a boy--who've both been having weird dreams about this other world. then they both end up finding a portal to this other world, where they meet each other; then they find out they have weird powers. um... i don't really know how to describe the rest of the plot without making it sound really dumb. but if anyone is interested, i'll ask my friend if i can post some of it on this site.

message 44: by Sella (new)

Sella Malin It does sound interesting!

message 45: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 47 comments good, cause i just posted it! lol :) would somebody read it, please?? my friend and i both would like some feedback on it

message 46: by Sella (new)

Sella Malin I'll read it! BTW, did you read the latest chapter in Stairway to the Stars? I haven't had any comments on that chapter yet.

message 47: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 47 comments oh yeah i did read it!!! it was awesome. i didn't post a comment because i've already posted like five comments on the story. lol. but just so you know, chapter seven was really good :)

message 48: by Sella (new)

Sella Malin Oh, okay. Thanks!

message 49: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 47 comments i just posted some more of soul stealer, btw.

message 50: by Sella (new)
