Mike (myerstyson) | 7 comments I don't remember much about this book. It was my first fantasy I read in the early '80s during my D&D phase. I had the book in high school, which I graduated in 1985, so the book had to be published prior to that. I can't remember if I had it in freshman year or sophomore, but that'd be 1981-1983-ish time frame. So published before that, but not sure how long before that.

I think it is about a lone druid. I remember the cover having him in the forest, possibly in a tub (?), with a tree and possibly an animal (horse? bear?) nearby. I don't remember much else, unfortunately. I thought maybe it was a Terry Brooks book, but I looked at all his here on GR and none of them look familiar.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Adele | 1443 comments Maybe a Niel Hancock book? There's The Sea of Silence The Sea of Silence (Windameir Circle, #2) by Niel Hancock but I am now realizing that was published too late, so maybe an earlier book in the series? There's Dragon Winter Dragon Winter by Niel Hancock from 1978, but that seems to feature only the bear hmm.... here's Greyfax Grimwald Greyfax Grimwald (Circle of Light, #1) by Niel Hancock which first made me think of this

Mike (myerstyson) | 7 comments Thanks Adele. Not any of those. Character was mostly in the foreground, and I swear he was sitting in something, maybe a tub? I know, weird. ;)

Mike (myerstyson) | 7 comments OMG, Adele, your comment got me thinking and re-searching and I found it: Bard by Keith John Taylor

Edit: Weird, GR isn't showing the book. Well here is the cover: https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.c...

Mike (myerstyson) | 7 comments OK, so to follow the rules, the book is called Bard by Keith Taylor. As you see above, there are some issues with trying to add the book with a link here on GR.

Adele | 1443 comments Good for you! On goodreads the author is listed as Keith John Taylor. Here is the link: Bard and it looks like it is a series so now you can read the sequels if you haven't already. :D

Mike (myerstyson) | 7 comments Yep, already got #1 on Kindle, so it is on my TBR list. See what I mean about a tub? It looks like a tub, right? And I guess the creature I was remembering is some kind of sorcerer or smthg? And totally forgot about the woman in the tub with him!

Glad your book, Iron Mike. Yes, that is strange. I cut-and-pasted the ISBN (044105000X) to get the book image to display for Bard by Keith John Taylor Bard by Keith John Taylor .
