You may have realised that I am not at all current with YA books, but there are quite a lot of stories about coming out in high school or becomeing cheer leaders on those websites, that specialise in writers of transgender ( mostly male to female) stories.

When I was school age we had the so called "student revoluion" in Germany. it was the result of having been "blessed" with quite a lot of old Nazis as teachers, police, public servants and politicians, that the Brits and the Americns left in place out of fear of the "nasty socialist", that they feared were going to help the Russian communists conquer the world. So for me that was not a nice time at all and I was quite active among the student movement.

As you might guess I am in my sixties now and prefer to read books with characters my age, not that there are that many good romances for my age, but it is getting better.

As you might guess teenage "Angst" (German for fear) has a completly different meaning fo me than for present generations and so not many of those books really tell me anything.

I won't make a secret of the fact, that I will not read all of what you here will love and want to read, but I'll happily discuss the differences between your (today's) world and the one I grew up in. And I will read books that impress me as relevant.

Actually I remebered my favourite read as a teen, it is a series by a French author, Rene Guillot and exists in an English translation, if you'd be interested in what YA-books were like in the 1960s. The first book of the series is called "Grishka and his bear" It might still be available, at least in libraries.
I'll check up on that.

Hi I'm Rheanna. I love all sorts of books but my fave is YA Magical Realism, Fantasy, and Contemporary but I'm always willing to try out different genres. For some random and unexplainable reason, I especially love reading book that will make me cry. Some of my favourite YA books are Six of Crows, Radio Silence, We Are Okay, The Poet X, The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue, and Simon vs. The Homo Sapians Agenda. My childhood was defined by Harry Potter and A Series Of Unfortunate Events. I can spend hours in libraries and book stores even though I found the books I was looking for in the first 5 minutes I was there. And I have a strange obsession with reorganizing my bookshelves.
