Oh, that sounds great. I've already read this, but it was on audiobook and it's a few years ago. So I would love to join you and actually read it this time .But I am terribly slow ATM, so please be patient with me 😂😅

Yay!!!! Please join us Feli.
As you will find out, I'm reading sooooo slow as well. I have to find a new house to buy or rent in a month. So yes, no pressure on reading this slow. :D LOL!
Graeme wrote: "I read this decades ago and still remember it well. It's a great story."Great to hear that you liked this Graeme! I've been wanting to read this one for some time.
I've looked forward to this one for a while, so glad to hear people liking it. It's a long one it looks like too.
Terry wrote: "I've looked forward to this one for a while, so glad to hear people liking it. It's a long one it looks like too."Me too!
it's definitely on my list, and I'd love to do my first buddy read, just don't think I'll get the book in time, well that and I have so many lined up already haha.
Mikki wrote: "it's definitely on my list, and I'd love to do my first buddy read, just don't think I'll get the book in time, well that and I have so many lined up already haha."Mikki, if you can find it in time, I hope you can join!
It's a big book so I'm sure it will take most of the month for me to read it. LOL!

It will take me at least a month for me to get through this one as well.

Okay, I just 'ordered' my kindle version. I have a German copy of the book, but it's easier to talk about it with you guys while reading an English edition with vocabulary and all 😅So, I will finish my reread of Daisy Jones today, hopefully, and am ready to begin Needful Things tomorrow (1st July).
Can't wait to visit Castle Rock again and I am so glad to finally buddy read an SK book with you again :D
Our buddy reads were the most of fun :)
Wow, Ginger, that sounds like you have so much to do right now! I hope selling and moving will work out fine!
We just moved I to our new house in February and it's still so much to do here. We are currently working to get the garden ready and there's still no proper street because the whole area is new and all this with a one-year-old 😅 my reading time isn't what it used to be 😂😂 But I will focus on Needful Things in July and I hope I can finish it in time with you!
Glad you can join us, Feli! I don't think we'll be setting a very fast pace, so hopefully you'll have some time. I can imagine how busy you are with a one-year old.
Yay!! I’m so glad you can join Feli! Like Terry said, we will not be reading that fast. 🤣😂And thank you for the good luck! Our house is pending so we did sell it and it will close on July 24th with no issues. Knock on wood. 🤞
We are looking for a place to rent right now and packing. Remind me not to do this again friends?! 😉🤣
And I’m glad you can at least read a bit with a one year old! LOL!!
Hi everyone! I would love to join - this book has been calling to me from the bookshelf for months now and I haven’t given it any attention yet. It’s going to start following me around the house soon if I don’t pick it up... 👹

Yeah, I think that same look you’ve been getting is the same with my book. I’ve been meaning to get to this for years so it’s not only looking at me but stalking me as well. 🤣
I started late yesterday night and am reading the first chapter now.I loved that prologue, it's a nice start and so many people are mentioned. Many will play a part in the story, I remember, and some I remember from other SK books. But I always have problems to remember where I know for instance Alan Pangborn from. There being so many cops and sheriffs in all those SK books 😂 I liked Cujo and Frank Dodd being mentioned, too.
I really like King's small town stories and how every single character (and there are always so many) and their relationship to each other is important for the story. I think King does this small-toen-dynamic-thing on a really high level and I love it.
I got started late last night as well. I'll start reading on Chapter 1 today. I already enjoyed the start! It feel so nostalgic going back to Castle Rock and SK land. :DI always enjoy his writing in 1st person like he did in Dolores Claiborne. I loved that book this year!!
Loved Dolores as well. It was such a surprise, I didn't have high hopes for that one but it turned out to be a really good book I enjoyed every page of.Hope to finish chapter 1 this evening.
(view spoiler)
Feli wrote: "Loved Dolores as well. It was such a surprise, I didn't have high hopes for that one but it turned out to be a really good book I enjoyed every page of."YES!! I felt the same Feli. I didn't have high hopes for it but decided to do a BR with a friend of mine on here. We both loved it and were shocked on how much we loved it.
I really like when I go into a book with low expectations and it blows me away. :D

That definitely makes sense.
I've stopped at the end of ch1. Off to a good start! I totally agree with your comment about the small town setting, Feli. SK does do it so well. Makes it feel like I could live there, and I'd know everybody.
It's been a busy weekend with the holiday, so not much reading. I'm up to part three in ch3. Since it's such a big book, I'm expecting lots of setup time.
Terry wrote: "It's been a busy weekend with the holiday, so not much reading. I'm up to part three in ch3. Since it's such a big book, I'm expecting lots of setup time."Same! I haven't had a lot of time to read but I'm about where you are. I'm hoping to read a bit more tonight.
SK is definitely setting up the plot. LOL!
I’m up to part 3 of ch7 now. This is such a dark tale! (view spoiler) I do like all of the dropped references to Cujo and especially The Dark Half (which I’m probably only catching since I read it just last year).
Terry wrote: "I’m up to part 3 of ch7 now. This is such a dark tale! Too bad and I wish that I had. So many SK books to read. *sigh* LOL!!
But I agree with you! So many characters are (view spoiler)
I just got to the beginning of Ch 5 last night. I am really liking this book! The characters are really starting to come into their own. :D
Ginger wrote: "Terry wrote: "I’m up to part 3 of ch7 now. This is such a dark tale! It’s fun to tie it all together. The good thing is that you have so many of his books still to look forward to. I’m really liking this also.
Terry wrote: "The good thing is that you have so many of his books still to look forward to. I’m really liking this also."So true!! What's sad is I haven't even read The Dead Zone, Carrie or any of the other books that we're mentioning.
I have years of reading to catch up on! I guess in a way that I'm lucky since I started reading SK later in life. My parents (super religious) would not let me read SK as a teenager. LOL!
I get to binge now as an adult. :D

I do remember you saying that. I’ve come to the majority of SK’s book late as well, mainly because I started out only reading fantasy. Didn't really branch out much until a few years back. I will say that since I’ve been reading his books in publication order (albeit very s l o w l y starting in 2016 I believe...), I have really enjoyed it a lot. Those early books are great. I know you’ll enjoy them when you get to them as well.
Terry wrote: "I will say that since I’ve been reading his books in publication order (albeit very s l o w l y starting in 2016 I believe...)"You'll have to read a few more this year to keep the momentum going! :D

You are right, I do!
I'm so sorry I don't have that much time to write..I like the Dark Half references a lot. I've read the book maybe 3 years ago? I had to google some names but remembered everything very quickly. I am terrible with all those SK-verse characters, but I love to see all those connections.
I am in the middle of chapter 4 now. It's my husband's birthday tomorrow and we have to celebrate it on three days because family can be exhausting 😩 it's terrible when they won't sit together for one single dinner and it costs so much time.. will say, I won't read that much in the next few days and that makes me sad.. I am really trying to read at least a few pages every day to catch up with you 😂
Well, I started to read King early (with 12 or 13 I think) but it's not that much better than to start later in life. I am not halfway through his work and this alone took me 20 years now 😂😂
But I also reread many of his books (sometimes up to 3 times if I really liked them).
It's not the best way to get all of his books finally read but, hey, I am trying 😄
Needful Things is a book I really enjoyed the first time and I remember a but while reading now but have forgot so many details. With the knowledge of the other Castle Rock books I've read so far it is a completely different experience now. I guess that's why I tend to come back to books I've already read. I really love to see all those connections in his work.
I hope you all are doing great over there in the US and you'll have a nice weekend.

Feli, Happy Birthday to your husband! I hope you and family have a good time. You'll get back to reading soon and I'm glad you are enjoying this the 2nd-3rd time around. I've been loving the characters and definitely see things going sideways. LOL!!
Hope you have a great weekend too!

I totally get it, Feli. Good luck with the birthday party(s) and in finding some reading time. This one is great so far - classic SK it seems. First time, second time or whatever time, I'm sure glad we're reading this now anyway!
Just got to the beginning of Ch 7.Oh boy, I can not see anything good coming out of the (view spoiler)

IKR! It's a train wreck getting ready to happen!
Terry wrote: "I didn't read any of this over the weekend. I'm still at part 5 of ch9."I got to the start of Ch 8 last night. I'll try and catch up in the next few days.
I'm averaging about a chapter a day.

Sounds good, Ginger. I was waiting for you to catch up to me before going on.

Hey guys! Sorry I’ve been absent - had a crazy week 🤪I’m on Chapter 9, section 5 and I am VERY CONCERNED about Raider. I stopped reading last night because I lack the emotional fortitude for what I think might happen and I need it to be bright and sunny when I forge ahead.
I don’t want spoilers, but... am I right to brace myself?
