I've read other books where there were clubs that catered to sex. Most of them were men's clubs. This was a little different. I thought it was a much more interesting concept.
This was new to me. I don't claim to read a ton of Historical-Romance, but I tend to think that this was an fictional invention of the author. I seriously doubt that the men of that era would have let such a place exist.
I wouldn't be surprised if there had been small establishments that catered to very wealthy women (or men) for this purpose to meet men for said "entertainments." Doubt it would have been a large clientele though.
There were definitely clubs for men to meet men (Molly Clubs, they were called) but I couldn’t find any reference of such a thing for women. Maybe I used the wrong query structure on Google😏
As I said before, it was common for married women to have lovers as so many of the marriages were arranged. But this kind of club was probably wishful thinking on the author’s part. But it was a great idea!
