Is anyone ready to discuss this one yet? I loved the writing. Apparently this was a TV series also - it's too bad it's not available!

Here are a few blog posts about this book-

Rosemary | 86 comments I think the author did very well to bring real people to life so vividly. I know he had access to their children (or some of their children - it was a surprise to read there was a son he didn't know about!) but in a way that must make it harder to invent the conversations and details that make them real for us.

I'd have liked to know more about how much was quoted from actual documents (for example, were the letters still in existence?) but it might have been hard to do that without turning it into more of a biography.

I thought Eileen was very resourceful and almost certainly saved his life by getting herself to France to bring him back. Quite a formidable lady!

Really looking forward to this one. I love these blogs mentioned when the group last read it.

I’m looking forward to this too, but I got a bit behind on October books so won’t be starting till mid month.

I have a load of library books that all came in at once, so I've also been delayed.
