Is it Helen Duff who did his others?

I just finished The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. It was pretty unsatisfying, bland, and just not executed well. Now starting Age of Empyre, and things are looking bleak for the characters here. D:

Yes, and no, and yes.
It is Helen Duff.
She did the UK editions of the Nun trilogy.
But I listened to the US editions, with a different lady.
Gonna finish Flashforward, move on with For We Are Many and going to try and take part in this month's book with The Cloud Roads. (Going in blind, not reading the blurb, should be good!)
Read The Son of Neptune and loved it. So much better when Percy's around, and I preferred the two new characters in this one compared to the new characters in the first book.
Finished The Lemurian Stone and started Adventures in Science Fantasy, a collection of Robert E. Howard's, well, science fantasy stories, most notably including his short, Barsoom-influenced novel Almuric.
Finished Jack, the Giant Killer, read its sequel, Drink Down the Moon in pretty much one sitting (it's short) and started another book I've not read in decades, Roger Zelazny's Doorways in the Sand, newly available in eBook format.
Finished Doorways in the Sand (it was short and fast) and started Byzantium, a massive historical novel by Michael Ennis. This one will take a while.

Jim wrote: "Weird, but fun format, wasn't it? One of my favorites. Loved the characters."Yep -- definitely on the more experimental end of the Zelazny scale. I know I read it a bunch of times in high school and I think it took me a while back then to wrap my head around what was going on. Even this time (first time I'd read it in decades) there was a certain period of reorientation.
Have just finished Mageborn which I really enjoyed. Quite dark and I suspect that the sequel will be even darker. Being mageborn is not a good thing in this series.
Finished Magic Bleeds, I'm really enjoying this series. Especially since my brother lives in Atlanta and I've been there many, many times and I know all the land marks. Now I'm dwelling into Disc World with the book Eric.
I finished A Darker Shade of Magic last night. I really enjoyed it and have jumped immediately into book 2, A Gathering of Shadows.
I finished Eric. What can I say. It's Terry Pratchett and it's great. Now I'm reading Finnikin of the Rock. It's a really great story.
Finished massive historical novel Byzantium and moved on to something more bite-sized: Robert M. Price's sword & sorcery anthology The Mighty Warriors.
I’ve had Finnikin on my list in so long. I read Dragonflight by McCaffrey. I enjoyed it but you can tell it’s from a different time. One of the MCs shakes the other when he’s irritated by her. It reminded me of all the spanking in Wheel of Time.
I haven't read McCaffrey since probably high school or before; I remember liking the original Dragonflight trilogy and reading maybe a few of the next set, but I was young and it was the ... 70s? 80s? and a lot of stuff slid right past me.(SEE ALSO: My relationship with the Thomas Covenant books.)
I read some McCaffrey a few years back and I did find it a little dated. Also, I like fantasy dragons a whole lot more then I do sci-fi dragons.
Just finished Age of Empyre. A nice wrap-up for the series. And I was in the mood to read something a bit shorter, so I've started How to Stop Time.
Finished Finnikin of the Rock. I liked the unexpected plot twist I didn't see coming but overall the story was just ok. Now I on to Soul Music.
It's round-up time once again! How many books did you read? Any favorites?

Honestly, a lot more than I realized, especially considering that Byzantium took two full weeks; but the rest were relatively short and I think I was spending more time reading vs. other forms of entertainment last month.
It was a very good month I'd say.The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes ★★★☆☆
The Shadow War of the Night Dragons, Book One: The Dead City. Prologue (I doubt this counts, since it was a short story written as a joke, but I'll include it anyway) ★★★★★
