Discussion thread for The Procession of Life.

Hmm, I'm seeing a theme here. Classifying people into groups. But why would we want to do this?

I finished this one this morning. I see the point Hawthorne is making but putting it in my own words is difficult.

Two ideas from Hawthorne's journals that were the beginnings of this sketch.

"In a dream to wander to some place where may be heard the complaints of all the miserable of the earth."

"Some common quality or circumstance that should bring together people the most unlike in all other respects, and make a brotherhood and sisterhood of them, - the rich and the proud finding themselves in the same category with the mean and despised."

I don't know if I'm interpreting the story correctly, but to me, I find it fascinating how Hawthorne uses death, love, pain, etc. to be the great equalizers of the human race. Haha, does that make sense?
