I am not easily scared and joined this group for recommendations. What is a book that legitimately is terrifying?

Trapped by Jack Kilborn is always among the first books the come to mind when I think of books that gave me nightmares.
The Infected series by Scott Sigler is really good for alien horror.
TheDead of Night series by Jonathon Maberry is fantastic for zombie horror.

If you are talking about "leave the lights on" scared I would recommend this book:Hell: The Possession and Exorcism of Cassie Stevens
by Tom Lewis

A book that takes you into the mind of a serial killer's prey? Where at first she finds random pictures of her taken against her will, then it progresses to her finding trophies left in her bedroom. Soon to find out the serial killer has hacked into her life, watching every move she makes. Until their is no place to hide.
The Ruins by Scott Smith creeped me out. The movie was a watered down version of the story. Read the book.https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000JMKNOW/...
