Anyone interested in reading this one? Or are you skipping it? I thought we could do it this week since it's short & that'll leave us time to get Creation read & discussed this month also. :) I hope to have Eternity read by the 15th or 16th.
Don't think I read this one. Can't remember it at all ! I'll read it immediately after finishing innocence
I'm not skipping anything this time through - who knows if I'll ever do a straight through read of the series again. Probably just pick favorites next time.
Heavens I have to get a move on, I got so caught up in Roxanne St Claire's Bullet Catcher Series, I am only half-way through re-reading innocent....
I kind of like this story. I haven't read it in a long time and I only read it once. I'll re-read tonight to refresh my memory.I do like stories about the tunnels in NYC. There is so much folklore about them.
Peabody: "I'm just saying it looks like your classic vampire bite"
Eve: "We'll put out an APB on Dracula. Meantime, let's find out if she was-just possibly-seeing someone with a heartbeat."
LOL...love it!

Finished my reread of Eternity. I actually enjoyed this one...some Eve & Roarke interaction which I always love. Eve sees her father in Dorian - in his dark, soulless eyes & it shakes her a bit...so she misses him switching up his blood samples. Peabody made me laugh with her vampire remarks...but then she always makes me laugh. It's a good, fast read. It suffers from the same thing that most novellas suffer from - too short.
Yeah, it is. I actually enjoyed Eternity. I think it was very well done & the vampire element worked in very nicely & believable. It wasn't over the top...actually a great idea for another psycho since Dorian seemed to actually believe himself to be a vampire. Some good moments with Roarke in this one also.
I like this one too. I agree it is too short when I finished last night I said to myself. It's the end already?
Michael - I thought that passage was a great lead in to that final showdown...I thought about it when I read it. And how fitting that she walks it alone. Amazing writing & choice of words/phrases. This may be "just a novella" but I think it held its own beautifully. It could have easily been a bit "cheesy" with the subject matter but Robb had me believing every word and, like Peabody, even beginning to wonder Is it possible??? lol

LO..."
Sounds like a blast. Can't wait to get to this one.
I hadn't read this one but as with the other novella's it was the background bits that grab me rather than the actual crime."He wasn't just a fashion plate but an entire place setting."
of McNab. I love NR's wit.
I do too! And for a short one, Eternity has some great snippets & lines that just slay me! I'm a fan of this novella.
LOL...Cool, true?! You can almost see her with her long leather coat, a cross around her neck, & a wooden stake in her hands! Love it!
Knocking people out without breaking stride. It was awesome. This one was quite fun. Loved it but too short. Would have enjoyed an epilogue to see a little more what happened to the "vamp"
I agree...it's an issue with the novellas. Love them but always left with the thought "If only it were a little longer..." I really got a kick out of this one.
Most of you ahve read the whole series - I'm at this point just for the first time, but the evolution of Roarke working with Eve on her cases is interesting to me. In the last book he mentioned being saddened by being shut out of her work. He seems to enjoy the work as well as being with Eve. And the department has accepted him working with her. Of course this makes things both easier and more difficult for him. Easier because he's there and feels he can have an impact on keeping her safe. Harder because he has to see first hand the danger she is in. I'll be curious to see how this continues.
Don't worry Penni I'm also a little behind. Thought I'd catch up as we get there. How I've managed that I don't know.
It would be VERY hard. Eve has adapted also, and is open and happy to have him with her and involved. And their disagreements around it are more often reasonably handled - they put it on the table and deal with it. With the exception of last book when he told her she was going to drop the case. He really can get his panties in a bunch when his trustworthiness is called into doubt lol.
They have both grown a great deal at this point in their relationship...especially considering her job & his former "occupation". A big part of it seems to be the trust they have in each other to "be there" for the other. Also the trust each has in the other to make the right decisions. It would be a dull life with no disagreements but for the most part, they do deal with them.
I enjoyed this one, for a Novella. I was expecting it to get kind of cheesy because the whole Vampire thing, but it really didn't. There was some great character interactions.
Eve: "aren't you supposed to say something like 'no it wasn't. blah, blah, support, stroke, let me get you some chocolate.'"
LOL Vera...love that quote! I enjoyed this one also...I thought it was a great little story and done very well especially considering the topic.

When club-hopping bad girl Tiara Kent is found dead in her plush Manhattan apartment, the killing has all the earmarks of a vampire attack. The ever-practical Lieutenant Eve Dallas has to deal with superstitious cops carrying garlic and stakes, as well as the ever-hysterical press. None of the wealthy young victim's friends seem to know much about the Dark Prince she has been secretly seeing. The chase to stop him before he kills again will lead Eve and her team into areas of the city that not even the most intrepid cop wants to visit, and into the very heart of darkness.
