Kate District 4: Fishing

Be reaped here!

message 2: by Kate (new)

Kate Bella inhaled deeply, savoring the way the sweet, salty air filled her lungs. This might be the last time she smells air like this; who knows what'll happen at the reaping.

Bella turns her head to the right and sees her brothers smirking at her nervous expression. They wouldn't mind going into the arena because they would win. That's what they always say. Bella on the other hand . . . not so much. You're too small and weak to win, they tell her. It's better if you stay home cleaning and cooking. Dying won't do you any good. It's not her fault she's shy and anxious.

Her attention is snapped back to the front as a horrendously dressed man walked onto the stage. Bella had never seen so many shades of purple and red until she saw him. Living in the fishing district, you tend to see a lot more blues and tans than anything.

The man does his introduction speech, then moves onto the first bowl of names.

"Ladies first!" He says, digging his hand deep into the bowl and pulling out a tiny slip of paper. "Bella Towers!"

It's in that moment that Bella realizes something: she has to win. She has to prove her brothers wrong. And for the first time ever, she finally has hope.

幽灵 (_youlin) Mark waited a little impatiently. What's the use of the Games anyways? Sending people inside to die? Is this really so entertaining for the Capitol? To him, this was nonsense and he wanted this to be over quickly.

He watched as a small girl was reaped, twitching nervously and fidgeting uncomfortably. How could she win? She was scrawny and looked as if she hadn't killed before in her life. Mark shook his head as the man reached his hands into the boys' pool.

"Mark Hanston." The man announced and Mark tried to hide his surprise. Him?! For gods sake, he wasn't at all happy with the idea! They were sending him to be killed!!
Mark looked around for volunteers but then he reminded himself. How could anyone want to volunteer for him? He was the bully, the leader of the gangs...he sneered at everyone he met, taunted every weak kid he could find...they were only too glad to see him die. Holding his head high, he stalked to join the girl, trying to look confident and don't-carish. For one, he wasn't the Capitol's toy and he wanted to show them that he didn't at all agree with their little games. The arena was going down, along with the other tributes who dared cross him.
