Hi everyone! Please feel free to leave any thoughts or comments about the book here! Spoilers are absolutely okay in this chat!

Ashley I finished it yesterday and I have to say, I don't think this is appropriate for middle-graders without a lot of critical discussions. There are so many problematic things....you can check out my review if you want several examples, but the main one on my mind has been the rampant misogyny and the fact that the school master attempts to seduce a 12-year-old.

Michelle Firek | 1 comments I just finished this book today and I agree with what Ashley has stated about the book. The characters are kids but it felt like the writer was making them sound almost teenage like, when they talked about ripped boys and the school master wanting a love with Sophie it was very weird and I did not enjoy that aspect of the book. I found many of the characters pointless and just plain annoying. Tedros flip flopping between who's good and who's evil and Sophie trying to prove her innocence repeatedly took the main point of 80% of the book which made it sometimes hard for me to continue picking up the book, because almost every chapter felt the same and that we weren't making any dent in the plot. I did like the ending where friendship love was what saved Sophie not a prince.

Minus the repetitive points the rest of the story was intriguing i wanted Agatha to get her happy ending as she felt like the only redeemable character. The magic the characters could produce was nice to watch unfold. I did enjoy the story enough to want to continue the series. I'm excited to hear what everyone else thinks of the book.
