Lmao, we forgot to make characters lol, I'll post that and then the start of the rp.

Name: Sphinx Anthony Lee-Carter

Hella short, like 5'4", has three piercings in each lobe, an industrial bar, an orbital and two cartilage piercings in his right ear and three cartilage piercings in his left ear and he's got a tongue piercing. He has a tattoo on the inside of his bottom lip that says 'Besame', one on the right side of his ribs that says "Dubito, egro cogito, ergo sum.' Both are in a cursive font and his entire right arm is covered in a Nigerian tribal sleeve.

Sphinx's roommate had just dragged him back from the studio because it was getting late and he always lost track of time. He was bored now though that he wasn't working on something and looked at the stream on the college app. Apparently there was a pretty good night court trial so he decided to go. He did enjoy watching it and sometimes he recognized the people on trial. He went over to the hall where they were giving the trial and went to watch up from the balcony that went around the room since it was less crowded. He as fairly sure this was supposed to be a gym but he wasn't usually on this side of the school so he wouldn't have known. He leaned on the railing when he got there, apparently a couple frat boys were on trial for multiple lower grade drunken crimes.

Jonah had been contemplating going for an early drink, needing to get his mind off stuff but he wasn’t sure he wanted to sport a huge hangover by starting too early. To keep himself busy, he decided to go to those night court things. He went occasionally, when he was bored, even when some of it was plain bullshit. He took a random empty spot beside a guy, not looking around much.

Sphinx glanced over as some guy with wild hair took the empty spot next to him. Apparently this was a pretty busy day because people knew the guys on trial. The judge asked how the boys had gotten to court and they said they'd driven which the judge pursed his lips at. He then proceeded to point out that all five of them had their licenses suspended for DUIs which made the whole court laugh, Sphinx just snorted and shook his head.
"Idiots." He mumbled, glancing at the guy next to him again before looking back down at the proceedings.

Jonah didn't notice who the person was beside him, otherwise he might have freaked out a little bit. He usually roamed these places alone, not much for socializing. He didn't even talk to the people who attended those things with him. He watched the court unfold without saying anything but then he heard a mumble. He surprised himself by letting out a short chuckle but the guy had said something funny. "You got that right," he said. "What's with college students and doing the dumbest things they can think of?" He wondered out loud.

Sphinx looked over at the guy next to him when he spoke and smiled a little.
"I dunno, but at least it's more concentrated in the frats so the rest of us don't have to deal with it so much." He replied. Most of the time the court proceedings were frat boys. usually it was for doing things drunk and it was almost never not funny. Sphinx was glad his roommate had come and gotten him from the studio, he'd have been there all night and now he got to enjoy his night laughing at some stupid frat boys.

"I suppose that's true," he sat back. "Although I admit that I've done some pretty dumb stuff. Just not that dumb," he shrugged, stuffing his hands into his pockets. He looked at the guy beside him and for a moment, his breathing faltered. It wasn't noticeable to anyone. He looked to the front quickly. He'd spent the better part of a year admiring the guy across campus. He'd never approached him and never thought he would. What Jonah thought was that Sphinx was practically perfect and because Jonah was anything but, he knew their worlds were too far apart for their paths to even cross.

"I think we all have. I certainly have. Hell, I still do." Sphinx said with a nod, looking down at the crowd of people watching.
"The trick is not to get caught." He said. He'd done quite a few stupid and... experimental things. He could have been dumb about it and gotten himself caught and arrested, but he was always smart about what he did. Whether it was smoking weed or trespassing in abandoned houses. He didn't leave a trail. He looked back over at the guy next to him who'd made some quick movement that had caught Sphinx's attention but seeing nothing all that different he went back to spectating.

Jonah cleared his throat, needing a moment to regain his cool. He took a breath and stared ahead, listening a little too raptly to what Sphinx was saying. His eyes remained ahead and focused, one would have thought he wasn't listening at all. He understood what he meant. Usually, Jonah was quite smart about it, too. He'd only been caught once and that hadn't been his fault.
His lips tipped slightly to an amused curve. "Experimental things," He repeated after him. "Like what?" He'd done a lot, but what exactly the man meant by experimental, he wasn't sure. He waited, not wanting to jump to conclusions.

"Oh so now you're intrigued. I'm a fashion major, what haven't I done? We're all a little crazy." Sphinx said, glancing at him again. "For starters I joined a cult for like, two days." He supplied. It was one of the weirder things he'd done for sure.
"But ya know, then there's basic shit. I tried and stated regularly smoking pot, I've honestly tried more drugs than I can count. if you count sexuality as experimental then there's that." He said. Sphinx wasn't gay but he wasn't not gay. He was pan but had a lean for guys and nonbinary. He still liked girls but most that he'd been with left a bad taste in his mouth. He looked over at the guy next to him again. Sphinx could swear he'd seen this him before, then it hit him.
"Oh my gosh, I saw you at that bar Rave the other night." He said, snapping his fingers. Sphinx was technically three years too young to be in clubs or bars but he had a fake ID. Rave, though, was a well known gay bar in the area. It'd been a spot for protests after there had been a shooting before any of the kids at this college had been born.
"I didn't know you swung that way." Sphinx said, raising an eyebrow at him.

He shrugged in response to being called out as intrigued. He was, always had been intrigued. Probably from the first moment he'd laid eyes on him. There was just something about him that he couldn't let go of. He wasn't sure what, though.
He paused, "seriously? A cult?" What the guy get up to in his free time? Research the worst decisions he could make and made them? "Interesting," Jonah said, taking that bit of information in. So mr. perfect wasn't so perfect.
He heard Sphinx speak again and his brows furrowed. He hadn't expected Sphinx would notice him. He'd been there and coincidentally, so had Sphinx. He'd spent half the night drinking and avoiding looking at him, not wanting to seem like a stalker or anything. "I didn't know you knew me at all," he said out loud. He didn't confirm nor deny that he "swung that way."

"Uhuh, a cannibalism cult. It took me two days to figure out what it was which was the only reason I was there for two days. I wanted to know what sacred meat was and apparently it's humans." He said, making a face. He'd just somehow ended up on the dark web and looking through things. He was glad there were instructions to wear masks and stuff or he'd have probably been found and killed by now... and eaten.
"You say that like you didn't expect me to do stupid things. i'm just a dumb college kid too remember? Maybe had a few too many experiences in my life but I'm the same as the rest of the people here." He said, considering things. He'd had a lot of bad experiences which had probably led to him being as reckless as he was.
"Oh well yeah. Your hair is lighter at the tips and the club lights were purple at the time and it looked like you'd dyed the tips of your hair purple which I thought was cool. Plus I recognized you from school. What's your major?" He asked. He couldn't place exactly where he knew Jonah from but he'd seen him plenty. One day he'd nearly ran into him while barreling across campus and noticed his eyes were blue ringed with navy which he thought was cool as well. Sphinx's were just a super dark brown. Really they were just such a dark brown that only in direct light, AKA an eye doctor, could anyone tell they were actually brown.

Jonah stared at Sphinx, not sure whether the guy was being serious or not. A cannibalism cult?? Why did he join a cult at all? He couldn't help the small chuckle that escaped his lips. "It's not that I didn't expect you to do stupid things, we're literally talking about a cult. That shit seems a little bit extreme..." He admitted, not sure whether that would offend him or not. "I suppose," he answered, thinking it over. If the guy was just like everyone else here, perhaps that meant Jonah could finally stop his infatuation. He didn't think so. It didn't seem like it was fading.
His brows furrowed again. "You're very observative," he commented and answered easily, "double major, art and history but I mostly focus on art. Yours?" He preferred drawing, constantly had a notebook under his arm with a pencil. Right then, he had smudges of graphite all over his palms. He did do other forms of art sometimes but it had been a while. Once, he'd even done a quick, loose sketch of Sphinx and then a deeper one of just his eyes when they'd ran into each other that one time. He hadn't shown that to anyone, although he kept it hung up in his apartment with his other favorites.

Sphinx laughed at the semi-horrified look on his face. It had been an immensely impulsive decision but he'd wanted to get his mind off somethings anyways so it had been a great distraction and a fantastic inspiration for one of his looks.
"It was. I do a lot of extreme things." Sphinx admitted. He was a horribly impulsive person with most things. Not to the point of disrespect but more along the lines of crazy and weird. He'd dyed his hair bubblegum pink on a whim once and loved it so he'd sported the look for a year. All his piercings and tattoos were the result of a split second decision. The one in his tongue had been on a bad night as well.
"I need to be, I find inspiration in the smallest things." Sphinx said with a shrug.
"Oh so we're in the same building. I see you all the time. Hmm... name name name. Something with a J right? It's in the Bible too thought that doesn't narrow it down much." Sphinx was muttering himself. He'd only seen Jonah being called by his name once and was having a hard time remembering. The only reason he knew it was in the Bible was because he'd had to take a theology class but he also had an awful memory.
"I forget. What's your name?" He asked. He'd have to tell Jonah his name as well at some point but he wasn't thinking about that right now.
"Oh I'm a fashion major, designer specifically." He said.

"That's really cool, I guess," Jonah said, trying to wipe the expressions off his face. He was usually much better at it but something about being around the person you had a crush on for the better part of the year just wasn't helping.
"Yeah, we are. I see you around a lot," he explained and held his breath, waiting to see if Sphinx actually knew or remembered his name. He was disappointed to find that neither was the case, though he was close enough. "It's Jonah," he responded and then added in explanation, "bible dude in the belly of a giant fish." He paused and then said, "Sphinx, right? Pretty unique name." He nodded upon learning his major, unsurprised. He definitely had the flair of a designer.
"You don't come here often, what brings you tonight?" He commented, having spent the first few weeks of the semester looking for him until he stopped.

"In some cases, yes." Sphinx said. He knew being extreme could be really bad sometimes but it usually worked out in his favor. he figured it made up for his lack of emotional range. He didn't feel things deeply enough sometimes. Something really had to hit him to make him cry or admit that he loved or hated something. Sometimes he really thought he was a sociopath but he knew he had a conscience so he couldn't be all that bad.
"That's it. I like that name. I think it suits you." He said with a nod.
"I guess. I mean it's a famous landmark so you can imagine the jokes I get." He said with a shrug. He didn't mind it so much but none of the comments were original.
"Oh my roommate doesn't like seeing me up in the morning looking dead so he dragged me out of the studio to go to bed. To no avail of course. I'm in the studio way too late, I mean, they keep it open 24/7 so like. How could I not be?" He said, shrugging again. He messed with one of the chains around his neck, not really looking at it. He wasn't really looking at anything, especially when he was talking. He usually looked like he wasn't fully paying attention. He got lost in his head sometimes but was usually listening to the things going on around him even if he wasn't watching so carefully.

Jonah watched him closely. "Yes, in some cases," he agreed. He nodded in understanding, smiling lightly. "More like a mythological creature. Do you have magic, too?" He teased, doubting his comment was original either. "I suppose that's true," he said before finally raking his eyes off of the man. He barely seemed to be listening anyway. He guessed perhaps he was uninterested. "Very relatable," he said, although he didn't spend much time in their department. He preferred being out in the open and breathing in the fresh air.
"Would you...like to go somewhere after this? I was planning on going drinking," he explained, not looking at Sphinx at all. He wasn't sure what he'd do if you got rejected. Why had he tried, anyway, when he seemed so completely uninterested in him. Maybe... Maybe that was just how he was.

Sphinx rolled his eyes but smiled a little. "Magic... depends on who you ask I guess." He said, keeping it vague to maintain an air of mystery. Sphinx knew he was a bit of a confusing person and, when he felt it was okay, he liked to add to it. He watched the boys down on the court floor, being sentenced, he was paying attention to the ruling so much as the looks on their faces.
"Yeah, but let's not go to a bar." He said. His fake ID could get him alcohol enough and he knew a guy that made suuuuper good, smooth moonshine and he knew a few places to get drunk or just to drink. But he didn't want to go to a bar because he also wanted to smoke a bit, maybe even smoke with Jonah if he wanted.

"I'm asking you," Jonah said, as if he wouldn't be surprised if it turned out that Sphinx really did have magical powers. He didn't believe in that stuff but he liked to pretend he did. Again, he wondered momentarily if Sphinx was really interested in anything he was saying. He barely seemed to be listening. Jonah tried not to be disappointed. Of course it was one sided. How could Jonah have even considered that Sphinx or someone like him would even look at him. The fact that he agreed seemed like a step in that direction, though, but Jonah's hopes had already plummeted. He didn't believe there was anything particularly special about him. "Okay, not a bar. Did you have somewhere specific in mind?" He asked.

"No I mean like, you'd have to answer the question yourself silly. Some people say being around me makes them think magic is real, others say I'm a normal guy." He said, looking Jonah in his eyes. "It's up to you to figure it out." He said, refocusing his dark eyes back on the court.
"Have you ever been to the abandoned observatory off the west side of town? The telescope is still on it and if you're careful you can climb up in it and there's vines everywhere." Sphinx said. He'd be more than happy to go there with Jonah once they got some booze and weed.

"Hmm," he said, thinking it over. "I guess I'll have to see once we leave, try to figure it out myself." The court was almost done, so they could leave right after, although Jonah hadn't been listening much anyway. He looked at Sphinx again, trying to figure the guy out. Unsurprisingly, he found that he couldn't. "I've never been. We can go, though, if you'd like. It sounds very cool." He glanced at his watch, wrapping up right on time. "We can stop somewhere and buy drinks." He still had his ID, since he was still months away from being 21, so Sphinx didn't have to bother getting any himself. Unless he wanted to.

Sphinx raised an eyebrow and watched as the court started to end.
"Alright. Let's go. We gotta stop at my dorm first for a blanket or something. We can't drive back here drunk and it's gonna get cold." He said, walking out with Jonah in tow. once they got to his dorm he opened the door and his roommate looked up.
"Sphinx I dragged you out of the studio to come and sleep." He said.
"I'm a depressed insomniac and you know it. Couldn't sleep if I tried. I'm going out, don't wait up." He said, grabbing the comforter off his bed and shutting the door behind him.
"Right then, your car or mine?" He asked.

Jonah nodded, "yeah, that's fine." He stood and stuffed his hands into his pockets. He followed him back towards his dorm, looking around his building. He stayed outside when Sphinx walked into his room. He heard what they said, though. He leaned back against the wall, waiting. He saw a couple of girls pass and check him out, but he didn't acknowledge them. He was anxious about what was going to happen, girls were the last thing on his mind. He grabbed a box of cigarettes from his pockets and placed one cigarette between his lips without lighting it. He put the box away and took the cigarette into his hands to wait to light it when they left the building. "Mine," he said. "It's out in the uni car parks already. Not far from here."

"Hmm, okay." Sphinx said following him. He'd have pulled out a blunt already if it were legal but alas he couldn't. Even if he did smoke cigarettes most people would think he was too young. He was a freshman but he was also short so most people just assumed he was a minor.
"What year are you in here?" Sphinx asked. He didn't think Jonah was a freshman or he'd have had him in some of his pre-reqs. He figured he was older, he just didn't know how much older.

He walked out and once they were out, he put the cigarette between his lips and lit it. He took a drag and then offered it to him. He had never seen the guy smoke but he also had no idea what he did in his free time. Offering wouldn't hurt anyone. "Second year," Jonah answered. "Recently turned twenty. You?" He asked, putting the cigarette between his lips again to take a drag.

"Thanks but no thanks." Sphinx said, declining the cigarette. It wasn't as if he couldn't smoke them he just didn't much like to.
"First year, still eighteen." Sphinx said. He was kind of worried that Jonah wouldn't want to hang out with someone so young especially considering he wouldn't turn nineteen until the following February. He knew sometimes people had reservations about that and he would respect if Jonah was one of them but hoped he wasn't.

"Hope you don't mind that I am, then," Jonah said, in reference to the cigarette before taking a drag. He held it in and then let it out again slowly. "Thought so, never saw you around before." Jonah didn't think he was that young. They were only a little over a year apart, after all. Or so he assumed. He thought he remembered seeing the guy celebrate it months ago? He wasn't sure.

"I don't mind, I smoke weed, so I have to wait until we're out of most of the public eye." He explained. He tossed the blanket in the backseat of Jonah's car when they got there and climbed in with him.
"Aha, yeah." Sphinx said. He kind of thought he stayed under the radar a bit more so he wondered how Jonah had taken notice of him enough to know that he hadn't been there the year before. He figured it was just one of those things and didn't dwell on it.

Jonah got into the car and rolled the window down so they weren't suffocated by the smoke. He turned on his beat up car and started driving. He stopped to get drinks. He got beer, mostly, since that's what he drank. "Tell me where the best place to park is," he said and rolled the window back up now that he was done with the cigarette.

Sphinx went in with him when they stopped and got himself some vodka. His fake ID working like a charm as usual. He told Jonah where to go and then showed him where he should park before getting out and grabbing the drinks and his bag.
"Righteous." He said. He walked up the hill with Jonah to the observatory which had light enough from the moon coming through the holes in the cieling.

Jonah talked a little here and there until they arrived. He parked and go out. He grabbed his stuff and the blanket that Sphinx had brought for them. He couldn't help but feel nervous. He brought a blanket, so they could stay overnight. Overnight. With this boy who he'd seen and immediately taken a liking to. Still took a liking, too. He wasn't sure he was breathing, and it wasn't the cigarette.

Sphinx lit a blunt, finally able to smoke and felt a lot more relaxed with it in his system. He actually looked at Jonah when they were talking now. He took a long drag and held it, then released it through his nose so it billowed out and masked his face for a few moments. He's made a whole dress off the concept of doing just that. He looked around for an area that had a decent patch of roof over it for them to sit and chill.

Jonah glanced at Sphinx and for a moment was transfixed with him, mesmerized by the cloud of smoke and small glint of moonlight in his eyes. He took a deep breath and then Sphinx's eyes met his. "How about over there?" Jonah asked, lifting his finger to point it out towards him. He shook his head, to get himself together, mostly. He just needed a drink, he told himself. Then he'd be able to relax again.

Sphinx liked momentarily disappearing, but when the smoke dissolved he was looking Jonah dead in the eye. He didn't look away to see where Jonah was pointing though, not at first. When he did thought it was slowly.
"Sure that works." He said, walking over and clearing a few leaves so Jonah could lay out the blanket. He opened is bottle of vodka and took a long swig of it before going back to smoking his joint and studying the way Jonah moved.

Jonah avoided Sphinx's eyes as they walked over to the spot. He laid the blanket down and then pulled the stuff they'd brought closer. He could still feel his eyes on him and he tried not to fidget nervously. What was he looking at? Probably the small scar right under his chin that made everyone look away. Similar thoughts of self-consciousness and self-deprecation rushed to him.
He got comfortable on the blanket and looked around the observatory. It was really quiet. "May I?" he gestured to the bottle, even though he'd bought it.

"Be my guest." Sphinx said, handing him the bottle and walking off up some rickety stairs on the side of the building to a platform that ran all the way around.
"You coming?" He asked. This was where they could reach the telescope and even sit inside. some of the glass had been broken and cleaned out but the moon and stars still shone through it in weird patterns. He wasn't thinking much of the possibilities of what could happen tonight, he never seemed to do that when he got drunk or high or just... excited. Which despite not looking it he was excited. He'd been wanting someone to go here with for a while. Now he was just kind of focused on the now and finding his way into the telescope to become part of the night sky.

Jonah threw his head back and took a few gulps of the alcohol, letting the familiar burning down his throat ground him. He nodded, and followed him up the stairs. "It's very... quiet," he said, surprised. He wasn't sure what he expected, but it wasn't this silence. He looked around. "Interesting place of choice," he said, now thinking about how intimate it would be to just sit and talk with him. He was usually a quiet person and that usually meant that conversations often turned awkward quite quickly.

“We’re kind of in the middle of nowhere. And the night doesn't hold much sound this late into the year.” Sphinx said, watching the smoke from his joint find its way through a hole in the roof before disappearing.
“I wish I could do that.” He sighed. He waited for Jonah to catch up and then walked over to the telescope and climbed through it until they hit a pane of thick glass. They were at an angle but it wasn’t like they were struggling to not slip. He leaned against the glass, the night sky, upside down, as his background, he nearly disappeared in such darkness.

Jonah climbed inside and looked around. "I've never been here," he said, taking another gulp of the alcohol. "It's near deserted, why?" He wondered, gazing upwards at the sky. "It's cool," he said and then finally got the courage to look to Sphinx again. It was so dark that Sphinx seemed to blend in with the night. He leaned back against the glass and kept his eyes on him, unable to look away.

"They opened a new observatory closer to the museums so all the funding went over to that one and they couldn't keep this one up anymore. So they packed all their stuff and left." Sphinx explained. His eyes were trained on Jonah in the dark, it wasn't as dark in the observatory itself but since they were in such an enclosed space it was nearly pitch black but for the light of Sphinx's joint occasionally lighting up his face for a moment. That was pretty much all Jonah could probably see at least. Sphinx could see Jonah okay because the light from the moon was rushing past him and illuminating Jonah's face as they sat across from each other.
"I like your eyes." Sphinx said, kind of randomly.

"Luckily for us," Jonah stated, a small twitch at his lips. He took another swig and then set the bottle down, not wanting to get too drunk just yet. Not when he was enjoying himself and wanted to remember every single detail that went on. He was starting to get anxious again, so he got another one out and lit it. It was a bada habit, one that he was trying to quit, unlike drinking. That, he could never convince himself that it was bad for him. Likely the only way he'd stop was if something happened to him. At hearing what Sphinx said, Jonah's eyes jumped to his as his heart skipped a beat. "You do?" He wondered. "Thanks, I guess," he said softly.

Sphinx raised an eyebrow at him but smiled a little. He knew the light rushing past him on all sides darkened everything else about him and Jonah might not have been able to see any of it very well but he couldn't really help his automatic responses.
"Yup. I think they're pretty rad." Sphinx said. Jonah's eyes were currently lit up by the moon and shining quite a bit.
"Why do you seem so nervous around me? Like honestly. I know I'm not all there in the head but am I really that freaky?" He asked.

Jonah was glad it was dark, otherwise the blush on his face would've given him away completely. He looked away, thinking that was the end of it. He reached up and ran his hand through his messy curls. Was it that obvious that he was nervous? He was usually much better at hiding it. "Freaky..." He repeated after him. "No," he said. "I'm just not used to being around people." For the most part, it was true. He wasn't used to it.

"I'm not people though." Sphinx said looking at him. "I'm a person. Singular. Just one. Granted I'm not the greatest person to start with." He said rubbing his face. He put out his blunt and lit another, this one a bit bigger. He was pretty much hot boxing Jonah the way the smoke was getting caught and swirling around them but Jonah was doing the same with his cigarette. He picked up their shared bottle of vodka and drank probably a little more than was normal before letting out a sardonic laugh.
"Indirect kiss." He mumbled, looking back at Jonah. "Tell me about yourself. Who am I spending my night with?" He asked.

"You're perfect," Jonah said automatically and then his face heated again. He took a drag of his cigarette, looking around again as he tried to act casually. Indirect kiss, didn't that mean he'd had one, too. He hadn't thought of it. He shrugged, "not much to tell. I'm studying art and history. I live alone, off-campus, no family. I like art, making and appreciating it, and spend most of my time surrounded by it." He glanced at him, "and you?"
