Judy I am registered, which was no small feat, but I am afraid I should have taken longer in choosing the books I listed. I have started The Red Lily Crown: A Novel of Medici Florence. I'm a big historical fiction fan, but not too sure about this one. Hope it gets better.

Abigail | 32 comments I had to stop reading The Linnet Bird because it was so sad and shocking. I am going to try something else like Night of a Thousand Stars.

The Linnet Bird by Linda Holeman

message 4: by Diana (new)

Diana | 9 comments I am just starting Dancing to the flute by Manisha Jolie Amin. The note to reader says 'This novel uses the Indian raag as a theme.' I'm very curious to check this type of writing out.

message 5: by Amy (new)

Amy Youngberg | 3 comments I'm starting with "Bad Feminist" by Roxane Gay.

message 6: by [deleted user] (new)

I made it through Assassination Vacation by Jen Cowell, and now I'm on to Horrorstor by Grady Hendrix. This is nuts. I'm doing 4 reading challenges right now, but MCPL WRC first!

message 7: by Karyn (new)

Karyn (artemis8) | 3 comments I am reading Calico Joe by Grisham.

message 8: by Amy (new)

Amy Youngberg | 3 comments I put down "Bad Feminist" to read start and finish "Me Before You". Next is "An Abundance of Katherines", then back to finish "Bad Feminist".

Abigail | 32 comments Night of a Thousand Stars by Deanna Raybourn

I LOVE this book!! I want to lock myself in my room and read the whole thing.

Diana | 9 comments I just finished reading 'dancing to the flute' by Manisha Jolie Amin. I enjoyed this beautiful book and am thankful for the suggestions found in the Readers Club Guide at the end of the book.

message 11: by LueAnn (new)

LueAnn | 1 comments just read "Beautiful Sacrifice" by Elizabeth Lowell. not a fan of the author or the book. i appreciate suspense novels, just did not like this one or this specific author.

message 12: by Pam (new)

Pam (psvogt) | 31 comments Finished Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. It was engaging, but also very strange. Suspenseful and definitely an adventure! The audio version had an exceptional narration.

message 13: by Sharon A. (new)

Sharon A. (sharona826) | 1 comments I am starting late so may have a hard time finishing 5, but I am starting "Night of a Thousand Stars" based on Abigail's post!

message 14: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl Hendricks | 3 comments I am reading Olive Kitteridge and am almost done. A very good read it is but has ups and downs, humor and sadness.

message 15: by Abigail (new)

Abigail | 32 comments I am reading Push Not the River by James Conroyd Martin as my 5th book. I tried starting The Poisonwood Bible but it is about 580 some pages and I can't spend the time on That right now.
I am reading every book in stages so I still have 4 to go. But I am almost done with A Catch of Consequence. A very nice story.

Abigail | 32 comments Push not the River is so beautiful but Sad! I hate Zofia, the wicked, scheming cousin who ruins Anna's life. I knew almost nothing of Poland's early history before this book. But now I am shocked at all the crazy stuff that happened, similar to Russia and France. This is a story very much like Dr. Zhivago, except set in Poland. I love Anna, and she is an actual historic person which makes the plot that much more gripping.

message 17: by Diana (new)

Diana | 9 comments I have finished reading my second book. 'The Kitchen House' by Kathleen Grissom was full of sadness, anger and cruelty, yet there was sweetness, humor and family love and loyalty sprinkled through the story.

message 18: by Diana (last edited Feb 09, 2015 07:51AM) (new)

Diana | 9 comments My third book is 'The Storied Life of A.J.Fikry' by Gabrielle Zevin. My love of books and bookstores, of life and friendship kept me loving this book from start to finish.

message 19: by Dorothea (new)

Dorothea | 38 comments Finished #4 9th Judgement by James Patterson and starting #5..The Mysterious Death of Miss Jane Austen by Lindsay Ashford.

message 20: by Shaina (new)

Shaina | 4 comments I thought I'd start with '7 Deadly Wonders' by Matthew Reilly (on the suggested list). I had a few days' wait and a friend suggested a few of his other books to start on while waiting. I read 'Hell Island' and 'Contest' - LOVED them both! I have since started '7 Deadly Wonders' and I'm struggling to find a rhythm. It has an Indiana Jones vibe. Plenty of action, just not the sort of action I'm a fan of.

I thought the title was familiar; so I checked and sure enough I read it. It is such a wonderful book. I noticed that it is No.1 of a trilogy. So I added the second book to my never-ending TBR list.

"The Kitchen House" made me cry! Love that book.

message 23: by Diana (new)

Diana | 9 comments My #4 is 'The Lion Is In' by Delia Ephron! A quick read about three women and the lion that may be just what they need.

message 24: by Abigail (last edited Feb 14, 2015 07:26AM) (new)

Abigail | 32 comments I was happily reading through a Tracy Peterson book from the library when I discovered, gasp, half a page had been torn from the book! So I am waiting for a new, undamaged copy from the library.
It will be book 5 on my list for the challenge.
Here it is Summer of the Midnight Sun (Alaskan Quest, #1) by Tracie Peterson

message 25: by Diana (new)

Diana | 9 comments I've finished #5! 'The Reading Circle' by Ashton Lee is the second of his 'A Cherry Cola Book Club' series. A quick read with plenty of 'book talk' and cozy small town interaction.

message 26: by Abigail (new)

Abigail | 32 comments I am almost done with Push Not The River. What a twisting tale of drama, and based on history too! Nearly done with A Catch of Consequence also. Heartbreaking and real, with a character I cry and laugh with.

message 27: by Shaina (new)

Shaina | 4 comments I recently started another title from the list of recommended books. "The Magicians", by Lev Grossman. I'm only 65 pages in so far, but I'm already recommending it to others based on interest of the Harry Potter series or other similarly hidden-school-in-other-worlds type stories.

message 28: by Abigail (new)

Abigail | 32 comments Done with all books for the challenge except Eat, Pray, Love. Summer of the Midnight Sun turned out to be very exciting with a ship wreck and end of book 1 cliff hanger. Good thing I have the next book in the series.
