I liked how all of the characters came together in this one. And the parts with Arobynn were great, really showed Aelin at her best I thought
Ughhh every time Aedion talks about taking the blood oath I literally groan and feel so bad since he has no idea Rowan has already took it 😫
Ok if you haven't read past chapter 44 don't read on"She waited for him to pull back, but he just stared at her - started into her in that way he always did. Friends, but more. So much more, she'd known it longer than she wanted to admin"
ARE YOU KIDDING ME SHE KNEW, AELIN KNEW WHAT ROWAN WAS TO HER. I AM SPEECHLESH
I just finished the book and it was my favorite of this series so far because.... ROWAELIN STARTS BEING BETTTER!!!
Dmi wrote: "I just lived how they met each other and how Aedion reacted to Rowan"SO RELATABLE !! I LOVED AND LIVED THEIR MEETING!

Hiii I'm currently reading queen of shadows for the first time and ranting on my page about it...I would love to have some tog readers as friends and share my thoughts of the book along the way with them If you want to read and comment feel free
Awesome! This and Heir of Fire were a couple of my favorites in the series, probably because of Aedion ;)

Haha, that means you're enjoying it :D so glad to hear that, this book is just *chef's kiss*

I agree! I absolutely LOVED Heir of Fire and I'm just at the beginning of Queen of Shadows and I'm already loving it. I just miss Rowan so much, I'm feeling too much like Aelin ahahahah
Also I just wanted to share some fun fact...Varese it's where I live, it's a city in the northern part of ItalyI think SJM came to Italy and thought Varese was a fun name for a book city in a made up world (?) AHAJCJAH
I don't know why but it really makes me smile
That’s awesome! I always love when authors incorporate real-world inspiration into their fantasy world building
Yeah that’s awesome, but I have to say some authors can’t really draw from that and use it to create incredible books.
I’m starting Queen of Shadows today!! I stayed up all night last night finishing Heir of Fire and as soon as I woke up I grabbed Queen of Shadows from my bookcase.
The ending to this one is so good!! And manon’s arc is so beautiful, can’t wait for your thoughts!!!
Heir of Fire and Queen of Shadows were def my favorites in the series. Like how did we get through TOG before Rowan and the Cadre?
Absolutely agree, Heir of Fire and Queen of Shadows are absolutely the best books of the series, I'm still trying to figure out why they left this feeling
KoA is best in my opinion. A brilliant finale and soooooo emotional. Is it odd that to get 5 stars off me a book has to make me near tears??
Queen of Shadows is my favorite in the series and Empire of Storms is my second favorite. I can’t wait to get to Queen of Shadows in my re-read! I’m almost done with the second. I keep itching to get to Queen of Shadows though lol

Same as El, Kingdom of Ash and Empire of storms are my favourites, but honestly anything with Rowan in it has gotta be good GOOD. Excited to hear your thoughts!
I think it was around my 3rd reread of this series where I started jumping chapters just to read my favorite parts but this whole book, every chapter is filled with such great stuff that you just can't skip it. If it's not Ailen and Rowen then it's Lorcan or Elide or Manon or Dorian or just.... ugh I need to read this again
See that’s how I’m feeling now. I got a little taste of Rowan and he’s not in this book yet (I’m assuming he is later) and I’m like what the hell, where is my man? 😓I also skip chapters once I reread a series. Especially when it’s like a comfort book. That’s how a court of mist and fury is for me at least
Ugh yes, once Rowan comes? It's SO hard to read without him being there!
Oh and, a word of advice. After Queen of Shadows, read Tower of Dawn, not Empire of Storms. This is because, while ToD was published after EoS hence it is 6th instead of 5th in the "series order", they both take place in the same time frame - basically, EoS is Aelin and the squad doing stuff in the Northern Continent (Adarlan and Terrasen and the like) and ToD and Chaol focused, he goes to the Southern Continent for stuff - hence it's the same time, just different location and stories with little overlapping, so you can switch the two, and as to why you should do this, is because Empire of Storms ends on a HORRIBLE cliffhanger, that only gets solved in Kingdom of Ash - and before reading KoA, you should have read ToD: because a major thing happens in it that you need to know before the war comes about in the last book. Did that make sense? Just a suggestion ofc, but I highly recommend it cause no one told me this so I followed the usual order and uh let's just say I barely read ToD, skimmed through most of it cause AELIN AND ROWAN WEREN'T IN IT!

No Rowan and Aelin in ToD? 😢 okay I will read that one next instead of empire. Thank you for the heads up. What I’m finding is with most of these books, I have a hard time getting into them at first and I force myself to read the first third of the book and THEN it gets good. I’m only on chapter 8 right now forcing myself to get to where I know I won’t be able to put it down.
Yes!! Rowan comes like a quarter through?? It’s not far. He has lots of POV in this one.
BUT PLEASE DON’T READ THE EPILOGUE PART OF TOWER OF DAWN. It has to do with what happens after empire of storms and you’ll get majorly spoiled, so just don’t read that last chapter part!

Lysandra is amazing!! One of my top favorite characters 😍😍 she’s such a bada**And yeah even though Rowan isn’t in AQOS until later in the book it’s so so so good! Can’t wait to get to it!
I never read Tower of Dawn tbh when I first read the series. I was told I didn’t have to at the time in order to finish the series and I honestly didn’t really want to because Aelin and the others weren’t in it. But I’m planning to read it for the first time during this re-read of the series!
And ACOMAF is my comfort read as well!! The whole series got me through a really tough time in my life so anytime I’m feeling really down and out I pick up that book and read a few chapters and instantly feel better.
I don’t know what I would have done without that series during that time 🥺❤️

No one told me this so I have actually never read Tower of Dawn as after EoS there was no way I was going to wait to get ToD from the library!
Okay I’m at the part where Dorian just went to see her cousin in the dungeons. He’s being controlled by one of the veil princes. “Possessed Dorian” went to go see the king and the king mentioned that the real Dorian is resisting. Also I am HATING Chaol. Im getting Tamlin vibes with him not going to lie. Like she has risked so freaking much and has saved them also and he is treating her like hot garbage over her being fae. He is prejudice to the max and I won’t forgive him. Makes me like dorian more because he would have never turned her away. If she was in love with Dorian when her being fae came out he would have accepted her I have no doubt. Chaol looked at her with disgust and is still treating her that way.
I guess this was kind of foreshadowed in the first book because Dorian could always look past her being an assassin and Chaol ALWAYS remember that and judged her by it.
Yeah I can’t stand Chaol in Queen of Shadows either! He is so bitter and prejudiced against her. And it sucks because at the end of Crown of Midnight he was trying to protect her being fae by sending her to Wendlyn and before she boarded the ship he professed his love for her. To me it just seems like jealousy with him in Queen of shadows and he’s bitter towards her. He reallllly pissed me off in Queen of shadows and that’s when I stopped liking his character which is also why I skipped reading Tower of dawn when I first read the series lol. But this time I plan to read it.
Chaol is one of my favorite characters ever but I agree, he's an a-hole in this one. He has incredible character development later tho!
His development is great though. And that is why Dorian is one of my favourite book characters ever, he always can see the goodness in someone ams he’s so precious 😭
This one made me realize how much I love Dorian
And what do you think about Manon and elide?

I know I'll probably get a lot of hate for this (I surely can't handle people that hate my favorite books and characters) but I can't stand Chaol, since queen of shadows I really can't seem to understand and appreciate him. Even after Tower of Dawn that is basically a book all for his character development.
Idk he just isn't it for me.
@El in Oz I love Manon but am annoyed she is ignoring Astrids (very good) concerns about what is going wherever the hell they and with the duke. Like he is clearly evil and Manon sees that. I get that she for most of her life has been too, and is seriously going to struggle with being good (I hope she becomes good at least). Elide just came into the story. Manon just caught her cleaning her room, and she thinks she’s a spy so I know literally nothing about her yet. Also I want to say thank you to all of you because I’ve been talking to you all through the past two books, and not my third and it means a lot. No one in my life loves to read like I do, and I always feel so lonely when it comes to what brings me joy.
You all are the real MVPs 🥰
