Atonement is another book that has just slipped through the cracks over the years... I've always wanted to read it, really, there just never seemed to be a good time. This week seems like as good a time as any. In addition to expanding my reading horizons, this challenge seems to be highlighting for me how frequently I miss out on movies because of my unwillingness to watch them without first reading the book. Yep, never saw the movie either. The plot seems intriguing, like the kind of story that would easily captivate me, but I've heard the first chunk of the book is slower and more difficult to get through so I'm going to try and keep that in mind as I go.

Marina | 272 comments I'm planning on reading Atonement i week 11 also. And I haven't seen the movie either, so I don't know the story, but I also think the plot sounds interesting, so I'm looking forward to read it!

Kate (kmersiov) I too have never seen the movie, and this book has been sitting on my bookshelf for years. Time to finally get through it!

Jennifer Van Beveren | 93 comments Thanks for the suggestion. Haven't read it or seen the movie. Look forward to hearing what you think of the book!

Bana AZ (anabana_a) | 414 comments I've seen the movie! But I haven't read the book. The movie's so painfully sad for me that I have no plans of reading the book.

Kimberly Mccune | 51 comments Such a great book! One of my all-time favorites. :)

Marina | 272 comments I realized the other day that I actually have seen the movie, but it must have been some years ago because I can't remember all of it. So I'm still planning on reading the book!

Libscigrl | 12 comments Such a great book. I have tried several of his others and none were quite the same or as good. Enjoy!

Jody (jodybell) | 531 comments This is one of the rare occasions where I infinitely preferred the movie to the book. The book just didn't do it for me.

I felt just the same. Maybe it's because I've seen the movie first, but I found the book quit dull.

Jody (jodybell) | 531 comments Me too - and it didn't have the emotional impact that the film did. I didn't connect with the characters in the book at all, even though I "knew" them from the film.
