The ground beneath their feet loosely folded in as they exited the whirring shuttle craft, it's engines making a raucous of such volume that Ciel could almost feel the animals within earshot fleeing through the underbrush. On land, she waved to the pilot aboard, who correspondingly pulled the shuttle upwards, and within minutes had ascended back towards the darkened mass of clouds looming above them.
Silence again fell; Ciel's ears would have to grow attuned to this. Making her way forwards through the treacherous marsh, she kept an eye out for any hint of movement. A hand rested at the hilt of her right saber; fingers longing to pull it from her waste and feel the safety of it in her grasp. "It's places like these," Ciel began softly---uncharacteristically breaking the silence she'd set up between herself and her acolyte. "That make me wonder what this galaxy will eventually unfold into. The very waters of this place sing tales of a once bountiful land, and now all that is left is the haunting remnants of what used to be. It-" she cut herself off, startled at her sudden talkativeness. Perhaps the swamp was getting to her after all. "Never mind, it's nothing." She added hastily, allowing herself a glance back at Gavin.
