Same! It was very eye opening in raising awareness about issues like racism and police brutality, which are quite relevant to our society today.
Haha, I read in class a lot too. This was such an emotional book, and I liked how Starr mastered the courage to use her voice in the end, and this book is definitely relevant to everything going on now!

I have question, how are you able to read during class!! I tried once but I just kept rereading the same line over and over sooo I gave up. If I'm bored I'll just scroll through Goodreads. Maybe I need to work on my multitasking skills xD

also I haven't read it yet, but another book similar to this is Dear Martin by Nic Stone! that's another powerful read that was recommended to me in regards to racism and police brutality (if interested)
@mel oh wow! I never really read in in-person school, but sometimes when we are doing lessons I read under my desk xD I read all the time now with online school.
anyways, I started reading this book, and I really like it so far!
