Amelie | 1318 comments Same! It was very eye opening in raising awareness about issues like racism and police brutality, which are quite relevant to our society today.

Amelie | 1318 comments Haha, I read in class a lot too. This was such an emotional book, and I liked how Starr mastered the courage to use her voice in the end, and this book is definitely relevant to everything going on now!

Joyce | 2030 comments I have question, how are you able to read during class!! I tried once but I just kept rereading the same line over and over sooo I gave up. If I'm bored I'll just scroll through Goodreads. Maybe I need to work on my multitasking skills xD

Joyce | 2030 comments oooooh there is a book coming out next year about Maverick Carter, the dad of Starr :O

Joyce | 2030 comments also I haven't read it yet, but another book similar to this is Dear Martin by Nic Stone! that's another powerful read that was recommended to me in regards to racism and police brutality (if interested)
