One thing I will say is that is there was a lot of police brutality (obviously), and trauma, so be sure to be careful if you are planning on reading it and aren't okay with that

Oh yeah, if you are sensitive to those things, be careful.

I started reading it (I'm buddy reading it w/someone) , and just finished chapter three. It's super sad so far, but I really like it.

Yeah, I love especially Starr's character growth throughout the book.

I realized there was a movie a couple days ago and I think I'll watch it right after I finish the book :)

I want to, but my parents don't know I read the book so they won't let me watch the movie because it's "too inappropriate".

oof. my dad told me to tell him if it was good or not because he wanted to read it (since it related to current events) but I'm going to tell him not to because he'll say it's inappropriate lol.

I could probably watch it on my laptop or something in my room xD but yeah, wouldn't wanna watch it with my parents.

I finished this today! I wrote a super huge review but then It got deleted by goodreads so I'm a little frustrated. But all in all, it has to be one of my favorite books.

That's awesome! It's also one of my favorite books too. I wrote a review but it's really short.

Basically, I was just talking about how I loved the author's writing and that the words really jumped off the page, and I thought the story was really important and something that everyone should read.

Same! Even if some parts were REALLY cringy.
