Bryant hates to see cruelty and neglect in any circumstance so I'm thinking that's why he took the dogs home. I guess you could draw parallels to what has happened to Kim and why Bryant always has her back and supports her. It's just who he is.
I don't know how I missed this question. I love the scene and gave Bryant a big cheer when he came out with the dogs. I think it is because it is the only way Bryant could "punish" Harris's father. He wanted to do something to show his anger that the man could throw his daughter away. Bryant has a daughter so it hit close to home. He wouldn't allow the dogs to be abandoned or tossed out unloved like Melanie.
Sharon, that’s close to my thinking, too. Bryant and Kim felt so helpless when they went to notify Melissa’s family. That girl had no one to care about her when she was alive and no one to mourn her death. Bryant rescuing those dogs helped save the day for them and lifted their own despair. Here they thought they might be bringing the family closure and they could have cared less.
And, I loved that Kim contacted child services, too. Maybe it’s not the best system but anything was better than what those two children faced.
It was a wonderful moment.
