William (williammgoodreads) | 2 comments My copy of Stephen King's novel The Dead Zone with the ISBN 9781501144509 has a different cover than the one on Goodreads. This edition I own can be found here on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/150..., and here is that edition on Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2.... As you can see, the two covers are different. Amazon's page numbering for this edition also seems to look incorrect to me. My edition has only 513 pages, while Amazon claims it has 528 pages. The edition with a different cover on Goodreads also says it has 579 pages. I am assuming due to it being a popular novel by a popular author, editions can easily be confused and added often in those more popular novels. But since I have not received Librarian status yet, I could not create this alternate cover edition.

PS: What is the oftenness of finding popular novels that need ACE's? I see myself finding them way too often, whether it be when looking through books on Amazon, or even scanning my own personal book covers and seeing a different cover come up than the one on my book.

Emily | 17799 comments It's only in the last few years that the ACE method of adding the ISBN to the newest edition became procedure. So many ACEs exist already for very popular books that occasionally duplicates are created.
I found this one by clicking "All Editions" and then sorting by paperback, and then just browsed for a moment.

So this one was much easier than maybe a Jane Austen book, but sometimes it is still challenging. In the past I have had to go by approximate year.

I have not made any changes to this record. Unless someone else comes along I will get back to it later.

William (williammgoodreads) | 2 comments Thanks so much for this information. I didn't even realize this!

EDIT: about the page numbers: should that be in a new thread in page numbering requests?
