Then I'll copy what I posted in the other thread. I think it works just as well for writing.

Edit: finally fixed the link.

Actually, I'm both, so bring it on, people.
And while the thing I posted above was just taken from somewhere, I actually made something on known templates. Such as this back when that movie was new (no idea which, because I don't watch superhero movies, I just watch the memes).

Here comes another!
Context: starting a new file, reinstalling the OS... just about anything that means you're starting with your custom vocabulary erased.

I have seen that first one before, Phillip, but it still makes me smile. Love the second one - so true! :)
I've seen lists similar to the first one. That's great, Phillip! The second one rings a little too true to me. I have a strong habit of basing characters off of people I know, then tweaking them enough the real person might not figure it out, should they ever read the story.
Imagine if you were sat on a bus, and there was an author, penning a draft for a manuscript. They see you, they observe, then they write notes, and before you know it, there's a character for their story, based on you, a random person on the bus

It could happen! About eighty to ninety percent of the action in my novella Asphalt Carpet takes place on a bus. About half the stuff that happens to the main character happened to me on various bus rides around the country. About a third of my novel Suckers & Rogues takes place on a bus. Most of it is fiction, but roughly half the characters are loosely based on kids I knew when I was growing up.

Andrea wrote: "Imagine if you were sat on a bus, and there was an author..."The start of one of my books takes place on a bus because the idea came to me when I was sat on one, staring at the wheelchair assigned space at the front, thinking how I've never actually seen anyone use it. Lo and behold, a book that begins with a girl falling into the lap of a guy in a wheelchair when the bus lurches and literally throws them together! lol
People think authors make up situations and people. And to an extent, we do. But mostly, we adapt life to the needs of story. Pretty much everything interesting that ever happened to us, bad or good, will end up as part of a scene in our work. Every embarrassing incident, every triumph, dream, wish, and every disappointment will be there, enhanced. The people you love and the people you hate will show up at the party and dance for you. As Ellen Goodman put it, “You can fire your secretary, divorce your spouse, and abandon your children. But they remain your co-author forever.”

Nice quote from Ellen Goodman!

I have one request: Don't just post your meme, give us a short paragraph about why you like it. We're writers, not memers...
I'm sharing this one 'cause I was drinking coffee at the time I first saw it and very nearly spit it out I found it so funny. I know that's a cliche, but it's true.
